I mean, come on, he left Sunderland stating (not word for word) that they had insufficient ambition and the squad wasn’t good enough for a promotion push!
They have virtually the same playing staff as when he left and achieved far greater things than Stoke. Sunderland and Mowbray have exposed AN as a Fraud Haven’t they?
Should we trust his judgement on this basis alone? That’s without taking into consideration his abysmal record with us so far? Given their achievements and his achievements as a Stoke Manager he must be very uncomfortable tonight. Though not nearly as uncomfortable if Sunderland do get promoted.
The Stoke Board have a big decision to make.

It is the easiest decision they’ve ever had.
Of course they trust him. He saved us from almost inevitable relegation. He sorted our FFP issues. He transformed the team with a few excellent acquisitions in January who sadly ran out of steam due to a lack of previous game time.

He didn't come here for a few months to get sacked, he knows he would get time like every other manager. Unlike any other club he will get more than enough time, and the funds to do it, the owners have always backed the managers. Will he succeed, only time will tell...

Didn't he expose Mowbray as a fraud by inflicting their biggest defeat on them at the Stadium of Shite in years?

Agreed, but it won’t be his decision. The arses of the Stoke Board will be twitching over the coming weeks. Will they handover potentially £Millions to a man they may no longer trust? I don’t think our projected transfer budget from pre Season Ticket sale date will now materialise on that basis.

We shouldn't trust the judgement of any senior official inside of those four walls. Rank incompetence and bone idleness seeping from every square inch of the place.
5 bottom half finishes in a row is a pretty special achievement for a standard Championship club. For one that has rifled it's way through 4 full time managers and spent over 100M in the process is pretty unique and quite the achievement!

I genuinely think he left for a) the money, b) greater control over transfers and c) to manage a squad of experienced players Maybe he didn't think our squad could do what they have done (and maybe they wouldn't with him in charge) or maybe he was gambling on next season where I understand you have more flexibility with wages/transfer fees?

I’m more cynical. I think he left for bigger wages mainly. Whatever his other motivations, only time will tell if they materialise. Assuming he is still here!

We will do what we always do let him spend badly over the summer and then sack him in October and replace him with another journeyman Judging by one of his interviews on the radio this morning it sounds like the Board have already diluted the projected transfer kitty. He spent most of his time talking about VFM and hidden bargains. It’s got all the Hallmarks of a stinking shit show already.

He transformed the team with a few excellent acquisitions in January who sadly ran out of steam due to a lack of previous game time. Many Disagree with that assessment. True - but many also disagree with the opinion expressed in the original post of this thread. It is quite clear that the fan base are split on what future AN should have at the club. So pointing out that many disagree with a post on this thread is rather overstating the obvious. It seems clear that the board trust AN to do a decent job once he is free of FFP problems. My opinion is that AN has not yet had a transfer window where he has not had the constraints of FFP limiting his scope to buy who he wants - maybe if Leicester had put in a reasonable bid for Souttar at the start of January we would have seen a decent replacement centre back purchased. Several of his January loans (notably Pearson and Hoever) plus his loan signing of Sterling in the week he took the job, suggest to me that he does have the ability to build a decent side. Hopefully he will prove me right this summer.

The experience thing is my biggest worry with him. It’s just not what we need. It's overrated in my opinion. Youth and playing without fear can take you a long way I mean it would be nice if we had a fit striker and more than 1 fit defender, but these 19 and 20 year olds are lovely to watch I'd love to know the truth behind AN leaving - there is a lot of talk that we had him on a modest contract when he signed, and gave him a small increase when we got promoted. I'd like to think it's not just about the money - maybe it'll all come out in the future.....

I think that is the club trying to reverse the damage of the over excited meet the club night where so called experienced football people, to a man, pretty spectacularly pulled their own pants down and broadcasted to the entire world that we had money to spend. It's probably the result of the first round of talks with agents and clubs where the price of our targets has suddenly doubled or tripled, much to their naive surprise...

Taking into consideration his results I don’t think we have improved. There are still big question marks over AN for me.

If we sign Pearson, a decent targetman and fast tricky winger I guess it will mean 10-15 points more next season. Another central defender, an attacking midfielder and a couple of fullbacks and we will have a chance to reach the playoffs too. Look at the playoff teams, two of them we have beaten with 4 goals away, Luton is really a midget club and Middlesbrough couldn't beat us either. It must be possible to be up there.

Hope that’s the case. It has to be the case. If the owners aren't spending then they are bringing very little to the party. Actively reducing the budget because they aren't sure of the manager, as is what seems to be hinted at here, when we need so many players is akin to actively working towards relegating us. They have to spend every available penny this summer and it is frankly down to them and their flagrant spending with Rowett and the subsequent fall out from that, that has brought this summer about as it presents to us. In saying that, I don't expect many big signings if we do spend every available penny either - such is the vast amount of players we need to recruit.

Watched the Millwall v Blackburn earlier, cracking game. Really liked the look of their midfielder Joe Rankin-Costello. Only 23 and has recently move into midfield from right back. Very good progressive passing and gets about the pitch. Only one game granted but I was impressed and the Blackburn fans love him
