Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere so just thought I'd give it a quick mention, but couldn't fault in any way the low key & friendly stewarding of today's game at all & definitely one of the best grounds I've been to for a good while in terms of a laid back approach creating a real laid back atmosphere between the fans.
From the stewards on the stadium perimeter fences to the ones operating by the turnstile access areas, to the ones in the concourses and on the gangways, absolutely first class all round today from what I could see and hear.
For a fixture that has caused absolute carnage in years gone by I can honestly say that apart from the Staffs/South Wales police liason officers who had a quick nosey pitch side at kick off I don't recall seeing any Police in the ground or even many outside it come to think of it, apart from a few on the main road outside the ground directing traffic.
Got to say I quite liked the set up of the away end at Cardiffs ground, it seemed easier for people to sit or stand during the game with the layout they've installed with the (safe standing barriers), can't put my finger on why but it just seemed to work well. The atmosphere was still good, plenty of home fan baiting and yet everything just seemed really low key and passed off without any great incident.. Saw a fair few stewards engaging with Stoke fans on the aisle ways aswell and there just didn't seem to be any ego power hungry stewards who usually can't wait to wade into situations and escalate things. Especially as a fair few Stokies had made a good day/weekend out of the trip & very high jinxed.
Someone will probably tell me it all went off after the match in the city centre or something now ππ¬!
It's easy to come on and critise other clubs matchday stewarding arrangements, especially after the recent Sunderland issues and overpowered stewarding and policing at other fixtures we've attended, but well done Cardiff, don't know what the exact formula was but whatever it is it seems to be working.

Bang on mate, 100 times better than the little Hitler's at the Ricoh. Prob the most friendly and polite stewards I have met.
Even one steward took it upon herself to drape one of the stoke flags for a fan.
Hope they stay up as I will be returning next season. πππ

They were great so down to earth and friendly and very respectful couldnβt fault them at all I only noticed the police when we exited the away end on the way back to the car which was a refreshing change as it was a very relaxed atmosphere.

This is great to hear. Fair play to Cardiff, the Welsh bastardsπ Seriously though itβs all fans want and has clearly been a successful operation

It's like the stewards were there but weren't there which is definitely how it should be. They never even over reacted when that Cardiff fan totally lost his shit and walked ΒΌ of the stand to explode his spleen at the massed Stokies! Other grounds I'm sure he'd have been carted off kicking & screaming, but no, they simply approached, engaged & he returned back to his seat, still chuntering but job done with no issues. Was all quite surreal but a pleasant change all the same.

Loved the safe standing. All away fans stand so its a great idea. How nice was it to have a beer in the cardiff city centre without the worry of being battered??! How times have changed!!

Not directly related but took my Dad first game for few years and drank around Stoke pre West Brom. He hasn't done that in about 20 odd years couldn't believe how different it felt from his day with no trouble at all.

The Premier League experience has been good for supporters and even the briefest of visits seems to have a positive effect on fans.
