Same team? Maybe bring in Axel for Jags if fit, reckon he’ll keep Powell in there?

Yep, makes sense.
Is there a reason why we always seem to play Bristol City on Good Friday?

We need to break the hoodoo against these at home on Friday because they’ve won their last 4 games at our place since we were relegated🙄Last time we beat them on home soil was Mama’s double in that very important game.

Was that a Friday night as well? It was the Saturday teatime kick off, when literally every single result went our way in the afternoon just to add to the drama - I swear I thought we would mess up. I remember being dropped off with my lad (who was only 7, had been a ST holder for the first time that season!) at Delilahs about 2pm, we watched Soccer Saturday in there with old friends from on here and beyond, cheered every goal that went our way, then saw us beat Brizzle with Mama on fire! Was an epic day! news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7344104.stmLook at some of the teams and where they are now! Scunthorpe nearly relegated from the National League currently Colchester Lg2 Ipswich, Barnsley, Sheff Wed, Plymouth, Charlton all Lg1 From memory, defeats for Brizzle, Hull, Watford (albeit against Palace), Wolves and Ipswich drawing meant that only WBA, us and Palace won from the top 8! 15:00 Barnsley FC - Leicester City 0:1 (0:0) 15:00 Blackpool FC - Sheffield Wednesday 2:1 (2:1) 15:00 Colchester United - Coventry City 1:5 (1:0) 15:00 Norwich City - West Bromwich Albion 1:2 (0:1) 15:00 Plymouth Argyle - Preston North End 2:2 (1:0) 15:00 Queens Park Rangers - Charlton Athletic 1:0 (1:0) 15:00 Scunthorpe United - Cardiff City 3:2 (0:1) 15:00 Sheffield United - Hull City 2:0 (0:0) 15:00 Southampton FC - Burnley FC 0:1 (0:1) 15:00 Watford FC - Crystal Palace 0:2 (0:0) 15:00 Wolverhampton Wanderers - Ipswich Town 1:1 (0:0) 17:20 Stoke City - Bristol City 2:1 (2:0)

Yes it makes sense to switch Axel for Jags, then switch back for Monday. I'd start Powell even if Gayle is fit, and maybe switch them over Monday too.
We have to keep the intensity of the last few games, despite the perceived drop in calibre of our opponents this weekend. A lot still to prove, in what is a very unpredictable league.

reckon he’ll keep Powell in there? Absolutely. He remains a key player, though perhaps currently not the only one. Is he? He only featured in the last game and was not particularly outstanding - which is fair enough given he's just come back from injury and we are now playing a far more intense game than we were previously. You may well rate him but to say he's currently a "key player" is a bit of a stretch. The key players for me are currently Campbell, Smallbone, Laurent, Sterling and Hoever. If Powell chips in that's great but he isn't the one making us tick at the moment.

The only thing I can remember of Powell the last game was him trying one of his ridiculous flicks from a yard out that flew over the bar. If that had been anyone else they would have been hung out to dry on here. But odd-flick Nick has messiah status on here.

If that had been anyone else they would have been hung out to dry on here. But odd-flick Nick has messiah status on here. It's virtually impossible to have a reasonable discussion about Powell on here as it gets ridiculously polarised. To some posters Powell is a demi-god and any criticism pretty much amounts to blasphemy which has now pissed off so many people they've taken to dismissing him out of hand. The reality is he's a talented footballer with a poor injury record and something missing from his game that means he'll probably never be the player some people think he is. As to being a key player in the current setup - that's just an insult to all the players who have put in the effort to turn the team round while he's been nowhere near the first team. He's got the ability to add something but it's up to him to prove he can contribute to a team that's playing on a different level to the one he last played in.

You obviously don't expect a player to make an impression while he's injured, do you?.
But I was actually a little worried that Neil would not be using Powell, preferring to bring in his own players in the summer and letting Powell's contract run down. But he put into a team on a winning spree and that suggests he still believes in him. Now, hopefully fit, he can only get better, although it may take a pre season to get him back to his very best.
A player like Powell is never going to be a bit player, if only for the reason that opposing defendeers and managers are scared of what he can do, after seeing him do exactly that down through the years.
He's not to everyone's liking, I get that. He does a lot of runs and passes that not everyone sees the purpose of. But just by being there he'll draw defenders to him and create space for teammates, and certainly Campbell knows how to exploit that, and also knows exactly how a golden Powell pass looks. This will only make Ty better.

This will only make Ty better. No I don't expect an injured player to make an impression - in fact if you actually look at what I wrote that is exactly what I said in my original post arguing against someone who said he was a "key" player. How can Powell be a classed as a "key" player when our improvement has been while he's been out injured? As you say he can't have possibly made a contribution while out injured. Powell certainly has the talent to add something to what we've now got but it's up to him to prove he can step up and fit in to the way we are now playing. We are playing with far more intensity and aggression than when he was last in the team - it will be interesting to see how he fits in and what he can add. He may well do but it isn't a given - some players will suit the way Neil wants us to play and some players won't. Powell hasn't proven that he can fit in or that he can't - it's great that he's got the opportunity to prove it one way or the other before we make a decision on his contract in the summer. However the onus is on him to prove he can play in this system and the last thing we should do now that we have an effective playing style is to adapt what we do to suit Powell.

I agree although I like to think that I can see both sides, have posted comments of criticism and admiration. I'm sure I'm not the only one. The thing is for me that is one of the reasons I love him. He's not bothered, although I'm sure he is aware of the criticism. I keep saying he enjoys playing outrageous passes and shots rather than the safe pass. As such he is much better in a confident side than a backs to the wall one when his passes don't come off because other players are scared to risk a gamble on making runs ahead of the ball. Now that we are playing with so much more freedom I think Powell would thrive and I'm really hoping he will stay. Despite all my moans he remains one of my favourite players.

Absolutely respect that - it's perfectly reasonable to have a favourite player and recognise some criticism is legitimate. A favourite player doesn't have to be beyond criticism.
