Well done Eurosport... Burnley aren't content with just spending the money they trousered on the sale of Lafferty on Martin Paterson, oh no. Boss Owen Coyle also fancies the midfield duo of Stoke's Darel Russell and Hearts' Andy Driver.
Should the Potters lose Russell, they will console themselves with the rather more exotic acquisition of Rudolph Austin from Jamaican side Portmore United. It was only a year ago when Darel flew away.... uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/23062008/58/championship-transfer-talk.html

Why would anyone think Paterson and Russell for a combined outlay of £2m (?) were the kind of deals you should be looking for if you've even got half an eye on promotion?

His employers had better take note. Any more gems like that and he'll be headhunted by the Mirror.

Brilliant, so that's Russel to Burnley and Keith Andrews to Blackburn FFS, we're going to be left with no midfield now. With Marteinsson and Gunnarsson gone as well, we're going to have to put Asaba and Greenacre on the wings. Grrrr.

The same article has this little gem too
The inflated egos and proportionate wage demands of players can make deal negotiations between the game's superpowers last forever. The lack of all this posturing and greed is part of what makes following lower division football so appealing, right?
Surely this can't be the reason why Shola Ameobi's move to West Brom still hasn't been completed?
After eagerly snubbing Ipswich Town and Stoke City as soon as the Baggies came in, the Newcastle United striker is taking his time in sealing his £2.5 million switch to the Hawthorns.
WTF?
I thought it was Stoke who snubbed 'Amoeba'!

I thought it was Stoke who snubbed 'Amoeba'! "After eagerly snubbing Ipswich Town and Stoke City as soon as the Baggies came in" I can only imagine his pure joy as the Brazillians made him such a tasty offer. "There was only one team for me when I learned of their interest" says Ameoba "Brazil are one of the best teams in the world and I cannot wait to play alongside the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho and of course the best of them all, Roman Bednarinho" Makes you laugh at how all those so called experts keep putting out that Ameoba snubbed us, the truth is, he was cack and TP realised that £4 mill would be better spent on a defender, who no doubt would of scored more goals than Ameoba anyhow. Good luck at Rio De Smethwick, Ameoba....quite possibly one of the most overrated players we know.
