There have been discussions recently re renewing season tickets and where to sit or even stand etc..
I currently have three seats in the lower level of what I call the main stand, but I am not sure what it is called now.
For the the recent FA Cup game V Brighton I sat in Block 30 opposite my normal place and quite enjoyed the view of the game.
I wonder is the Sun distracting or a problem when it occasionally shines as I am considering a change.?
How do others think about where they sit and maybe moving.?

I’m in a wheelchair around there. The sun can be a pain at the start of the season if you don’t have a cap on but of course it’s not that often the sun shines. Even if it does in winter it’s setting before kick off. Other than that though I have a brilliant view.
As for atmosphere it’s probably the same as where you are now, there isn’t any.

Yep the sun can be a problem but not enough to make me want to sit elsewhere.
Shades or a hat are always an option.

Sit in the west upper ..and will continue to do so
But when that’s not been open I usually gravitate to the East stand block 30 ..row 10 , decent view ,( a bit higher might be even better ) closer to the pitch so like the increase in the feeling of involvement , though as others have said the sun .. and indeed the size of the concourse are issues .. though I note there’s an entrance to Ricardos from the north corner of the concourse which depending on membership details in there next season could be a plus point

I'm in there block 29 and have been in that stand for the vast majority of our time at the ground. We were in the family stand up towards the South stand then once my Son was too old we went towards the Boothen corner of that stand. Then we had I think 3 seasons in the South stand after not renewing in protest at TP's shit football. Then to where we are now near the back of block 29. Done odd games in the Boothen and John Smith's but have always preferred what I still call the Sentinel stand.

Depending on who we sign over the summer and if we make some of these loans permanent, I am looking at getting a season ticket as I am moving back into the region for work.
What are the Pros and Cons of the higher rows of East Stand Block 30 vs West Upper?
From past experience, I preferred the east stand as I liked saving the tickets being cheaper and the atmosphere. The sun was a small problem but easily solved.
West Upper - best views and sun is a non-issue but I always felt it to be a little too quiet for my liking and less atmosphere than the East stand.
Anything else that I am missing that I should consider? I would appreciate people’s thoughts.

Wow.

Wow. I don't think there is any problem with toilet access, though I seldom need it. Bars are no problem at all, the staff are generally waiting to serve. Was busier in prem days but not a big problem even then..It's the walk up 5 flights of stairs which is the killer 🥵 Sorry I'm talking pre-match, I never venture to the Concourse(?) at half-time.

Must be 5 degrees warmer over that side.

Anything else that I am missing that I should consider? I would appreciate people’s thoughts. West upper Boothen side..( from experience as a ST from the start ) only been in the other side about twice , originally the Boothen side was a higher grade build , believe they’ve been equalled out now Male Toilet capacity was reduced when we Qualified for Europe , believe space saved was used for the media mezzanine floor ..there’s room , but it’s adequate at best .. a design fault means the queue to enter the smaller space cuts across one of the main exit doors to the concourse if you’re not good on your legs I believe you can arrange to use the lift via the main entrance , the entrance stairwell is showing it’s age and needs to be included in the refurb programme .. plaster needs reskimming & repainting in places .. it could do also do with a deep clean ( these aren’t corporate areas so I doubt they’re high on the list ..and will only be done when it’s structurally required rather than cosmetically ) if we ever qualify for Europe again , some of the seats in block 7 are EUFA cat 1s.. meaning you may be kicked out of them if UEFA officials or the away team take up their allocation of cat 1 seats Due to a design fault food can only be warmed up there , not cooked , meaning no fries ..or indeed half the stuff for an enhanced menu that was promised/ muted when it first opened .. Originally the large vents high in the wall made the concourse actually colder than pitchside .. during the Icelandics reign after much discussion with the fire brigade etc ..the vents were sealed off ..the place is far warmer now ..but I believe that led to the no cooking rule ..it’ll be interesting to see if the planned stadium refurbishments address that My own opinion only , but as theyre highest grade general seats any future price increase may focus on that tier first rather than seats elsewhere that come with a more community pricing structure Finally a lot of people slag it ( or the people up there off ) but couldn’t wait to join them on cheapo cup games meaning a change in ambiance 😀 ( though the latest policy seems to close it meaning you may well need to move elsewhere for cup games For all that the best seats in the house ( they’re are a few restricted views due to support rails , so ask to take a look before buying ) only part of the ground that is the equivalent of a stand as opposed to terrace

I've often noticed us sweating in t shirts, sunglasses and baseball caps while opposite us people are wearing thick coats, hats and scarves. I wonder if every ground has such contrasting temperatures. The most annoying sunny days are Feb when the sun is high enough to be above the main stand but low enough to be shining straight in your eyes and you've not thought about sunglasses and baseball caps. Those free programmes used to be really useful on those days.

Block 31, Row 19.
The sun's only really an issue in late autumn or end of winter until it sinks behind the Main stand . As others have said - cap or shades sorts it. Cap is better if it's actually hot like August anyway.

Yep. A cap is the secret. Only problem is I only seem to take it when I don’t need it. Then the odd occasions the sun is low. I forget it 🙄
Think we’ve had same seats for around 18 seasons now. My son in law moved into my mates seat next to me this season as my mate had given up after 50 years or more !! My son in law only just said last home game to me that he can see why we don’t give them up. Excellent view.

If I'm ever too slow to reserve them for Cup games, they go really quickly. Often hear non-regulars say how good the view is.
