Just finished watching it last night - BRILLIANT SERIES !
The last few nights I sat crying with laughter, pain, sadness and the sheer obsurdity of some of the characters.....
Loved every minute of it.
I saw glimpses of myself in his character Tony in the sense of 'right...fuck everyone this is how I am gonna do it"
The pain of losing a loved one is something we all feel at some point in our lives, but how you deal with it is how we learn to cope...... everyones different
Admin - Please merge if this has been covered but I didnt see anything on it
Anyone else watched it?

Watched season 1 but then stopped. Found it too difficult to watch tbh.

Watched season 1 but then stopped. Found it too difficult to watch tbh. Understandable mate. I imagine it’s be very tough for anyone who’s suffered the loss of a partner. From my own point of view It’s really well written and I love a bit of Gervais, some extremely poignant moments too.

In 100 years time Gervais will be spoken about in the same way that Shakespeare is spoken about now - it's incredible how he manages to combine so much depth and human emotion with genuine hilarity.
Genius.

I like his other stuff, like his stand ups, but this series, although funny, is just torture if you've gone through it. I'm not yet anywhere near a point where I can start thinking happy thoughts. Everything is negative regarding what happened. But saying that, there are people worse off than me so probably best if I keep this stuff to the 'Ok' thread, and we get on topic. Good series in general.

If you can, check out the After Life outtakes (probably find them on YouTube) - they are hilarious!!!

Not got round to Series Three yet, but I'm an advocate of the 'Two Series Rule', and I thought the second season wrapped things up quite nicely at the end, so I'd be going into it with an expectation that while it probably won't be shit, it's unlikely to live up to the first two.
Happy to be advised otherwise.

Good series but I much preferred Derek. Both have incredibly funny and sad moments, just like life in general.

I thought it was terrible. The first series was just about bearable as I waited for something to hopefully develop but it just gets progressively worse.
I loved The Office and Extras they were genius, I think all Derek and After Life show is that it was Stephen Merchant that was the more talented writer........

After Life was excellent. Joe Wiĺkinson, Roisin Conaty, the bloke who played Brian, Diane Morgan all really excellent.
I found the very end almost unbearably poignant.
I agree about the outtakes. The cake scene is brilliant!
