Literally a name I have plucked out of the air, but he may well be worth a shot at? He is a Latvian who played well in Euro 2004 but appears to have lost his way a bit in recent years. He is his country's all time top scorer (with 23) and spent last season on loan at Hajduk Split. Would a similar deal be worth the gamble? uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PhOn5ev_x9A

Email Tone, as he's probably never heard of him.

Are you talking about the same Tone who seems to know every player on the planet and who they play/played for?
Have you ever been to a meet the manager night? Obviously not

You'd think Gary Johnson would be 1st in the queue with all his Latvian connections etc.
Great player - searing pace and still young (and with Champs League experience) but as with a lot of these 'foreign types' bit too lightweight for England and certainly not a typical Pulisball player.

In the Premier though we need less Pulisball type players. We have no player bar Demar with genuine pace. We will need pace.
I think a lack of pace and ball retention maybe the only two problems we'll have next year.

Lack of quality players might be a problem too.

It's just a tad random , that's all. The chances of Tone looking at this lad are VERY slim.

Lack of quality players might be a problem too. There is that!

I remember he caught the eye in Euro 2004, and got a fair bit of coverage. Bur he's pushing 30 , and no-one has ever taken a chance on him in Western Europe, which is probably telling.
And he is about a foot too small for Pulis.

He didn't exactly set the world on fire at Dynamo Kyiv. One destined for obscurity IMO.

I'm sure TP has some Latvian connection in his family as well as the better publicised Maltese ancestry. I'm sure TP will be aware of Verpakovskis.

I reckon TP is the best Welsh manager with Maltese & Latvian ancestry in the world.

I think we do need to have a punt at a few unknowns, diamonds in the rough!

Verpakovskis. Was in Hajduk Split last year and had a terrible season as well as his club. We were 30 points ahead of them last season and they only finished fifth.

I reckon the people in the club shop who put players names on the back of shirts would go on strike if we signed him!!!
