I don’t think Southampton will sell, he’s here for game time and improve. I think they’ll want him back They'll be in our division so doubt they'd sell him to us. I don’t think they will who ever division they’re in

Fantastic today, I think the frustration comes from too many misplaced passes on some occasions. The way he plays he looks relaxed and laid back, so maybe when he misplaces a pass or has a bad game it looks like he isn’t giving it his all. But yes fantastic today. Fair play.

We’ve certainly done a great job of developing him so he’s ready to help Southampton get promoted next season.

Having Pearson to mop up has let him flourish.

Having Pearson to mop up has let him flourish. And that’s the reason he was getting unfairly slaughtered ( and that’s literally the word ) on here The abuse he was getting on here, Twitter and at the match was beyond the pale but people just couldn’t see it Take a bow lad

He's been brilliant but the 1 assist isn't enough at all at this level. Tonight he was very good again but it's about 10 games he's been decent, befit that he has been largely poor which the stats suggest

Outstanding today, alongside an in form Laurent.
Pearson’s biggest impact appears to be the confidence he has given to his teammates,

Considering he's a loan player he really feels like one of our own. First season as a senior footballer and growing week by week. Must be a priority to sign in the Summer but will it happen? Sadly, if soton go down I think our chances to sign him will be gone. Wardprowse will certainly leave soton to stay in the prem and then in steps smallbone as his replacement.. The same could very well happen with Pearson if bournemouth go down.

Yet another player who is improving rapidly under AN’s leadership.
What a wonderful manager we have.

His recent comments in the Sentinel reference his roots up this way and being happy and getting games. I think for once personal and footballing reasons may trump money reasons if we can cobble together a half decent deal.

It was obvious since his debut vs Blackpool he was an intelligent player. I don't understand why he got so much stick.

Funny innit, start of the season we were all excited about Smallbone, but he looked off the pace. We now have a really well balanced midfield 3 that if we were to keep them we would be starting next season in a good place. Small tweaks in style and personnel leading to some better performances.

For the first time in ages our midfield looks balanced. All 3 are excellent individual players who compliment each other.

As someone said on RTG blunderland board,
"The baldy bastard in the middle has totally schooled our whole midfield today."
Couldn't have put it better myself.

There’s a world of difference between the two. They are both team players though Anyway Allen is history hoping we can pinch Smallbone in the summer Allen’s headless chickening actively detracted from the team effort frequently though, as well-intentioned as it might have been. Smallbone is instrumental in making the manager’s system work.

Very unselfish on the second goal... I was expecting him to have a go myself, he was in a good position to have a crack, and a lot of other players would, but hats off to him, he quickly realised that an open goal for Campbell was a better option!!! 👍🏼

Possibly, just can’t see it. He’s young and they sent him out to gain experience Hassenthutel did yes two managers on, and probably another change if they go down and they probably won't know who he is It will be a business decision at the end of the day. If they go down they know they’ve got a fairly decent championship player on their hands regardless of who the manager is. Likelihood is that a manager will want 6-12 months to ‘watch him fight for his place’ in the team before deciding. If Stoke got relegated to the championship with us having a player on loan at a championship club doing well it wouldn’t make sense for a manager to not give him time to make an impression.

Smallbone is instrumental in making the manager’s system work. Hence Neil's regular compliments regarding his input. On a side note, as far as I'm concerned, we're way better off without Allen. He was too often a waste of a shirt during the game and whilst he played for us successive managers simply seemed unable to see it.

That midfield 3 of Smallbone, Laurent and Pearson is superb, dare say the best midfield we've had since relegation
It's got the shithousery and break up play of Pearson
The box to box powerhouse of Laurent
The class of Smallbone who can pick passes, press and deliver excellent dead balls
