Jason Kearton (good keeper) Marco Gabbiadini (piss poor) Tom Cowan (class but past it) Vince Hilaire (fast has f**k) I could go on and on Didn’t think Tom Cowan was past it; being only 24 when here! Played most games of his career at Huddersfield after leaving Stoke. Most of those games in Championship. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Cowanyour right getting mixed up with Gordon Cowans lol

Jörg Sobiech I think he played in the match where there was an unusual style of football manager celebration, from Chris Kamara at the final whistle

Russell Hoult, may have a distinction in being sent off in his one and only league appearance? I have a terrible memory of a dodgy cup game (maybe Autoglass?) at Rochdale. Hoult distinguished himself as the worst penalty shoot out Keeper in our history. It was like watching a redwood come down when he dived. Never saw him again but my feet are still frozen.

Jeff Whitley. Junior. Chris Riggott. Stephen Kelly. Did junior sign at the same time as Martin Kolar? Were they both Boskamp signings or am I getting mixed up. Both Boskamp signings, think we signed both of them on loan from Anderlecht.

Ian Allinson He may as well have been working at the local bakery! Possibly one of the shortest durations from a permanent, closed season signing. “Having only made 14 appearances for Arsenal in the 1986–87 season, Allinson joined Second Division club Stoke City, but only made nine appearances for the team before signing for Luton Town for a £10,000 fee in October 1987.” en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Allinson

Henri Camara was a couple years after Matteo. Matteo made his appearances a couple years before we got promoted because he was injured the season we went up I think. Camara was a Jan transfer when we were in first prem season i believe. Yep he was, missed an absolute sitter at Sunderland away if I recall correctly. Didn’t he hit the bar from about 2 yards? Did Tosh MacKinlay get sent off in his first game around the same time as Alan Smart or have I just conflated them into one player?

Russell Hoult, may have a distinction in being sent off in his one and only league appearance? I think Allan Smart has the same record. If I remember rightly the story goes: Signs on loan from Watford A day later makes his debut off the bench v Oldham 10 minutes after coming on is sent off for chinning an Oldham player Immediately sent back to Watford 10 days later signs for Oldham Similar to Tosh Mckinlay ? Think he got sent off on his debut and played another game after that and that was it.

Stephen Wright played 16 times during the promotion season. I have no memory of it.
I wanted to say Márton Fülöp but apparently his loan lasted 4 days and he never played for us. We had a deal agreed in the summer but opted to go with Sorensen instead.

When Stoke tried to break into the American market by signing the likes of Brek Shea, Juan Agudelo and Maurice Edu. Probably had around 8 appearances between them.

Marco Gabbiadini Bruce Dyer Gabbiadini is the one I had in mind At the time he fancied himself as a top level striker but didn’t seem to fancy it at our place Another big signing for us around the same time was Bruce Grobbelaar on loan , I think he relished it here Having watched the relatively limited amount of football on TV from the mid to late 80’s and the success that Liverpool and Everton had… It’s just struck me how weird it is that both of their first choice GK’s went on to play for Stoke. Though when here, Bruce Grobellaar and Neville Southall were, obviously, involved in seasons that were totally opposed to each other in success! Southall also played on loan at Vale! Grobbelaar didn’t but his last match for Stoke was at Vale Park!
