It’s a bloody long way from Plumpton to Stoke on Trent, as I am hoping the Brighton fans are finding. I am not a bitter man, but having sat through watching their shithousing team, I hope the Brighton fans enjoyed the M6 closure, the road being reduced to one lane on the M42 and M40 and then, the last laugh, the closure of the M25 between junctions 9 and 11. I truly hope they are still sat in traffic now. Was really proud of my boys tonight. Not just the ones in red and white who finally stood up to be counted, but my two lads of 14 and 13 who accompanied me and now have to go to school tomorrow (today) In amongst hoards of Brighton fans. They make their old Dad immensely proud with their dedication, which has truly felt like a cross to bare of late.Am smarting in defeat but my 4hr drive home is s little more bearable watching a performance in which our players left it all out on the pitch. Be loyal, be proud, be Stoke

If you live in Plumpton though - surely you can afford your own private plane to the game I hate the modern game and in particular, the rolling about on the floor like you have been shot in order to try and buy your opponent a yellow card, when I see it happen I am embarrassed for the player, no lad of mine would be allowed to do that and pleased we did not do that when we had numerous chances to do so - I blame the parents for the raising of an absolute nonce - the punishment for diving when you have hardly been touched should be a year ban and loaned out to a Rugby team. That said, I am not sure I would wish their fans a long journey home, they have been long-suffering, like us, never won a thing, like us, had plenty of heartbreak, like us, and have been a well ran club for a while now

This posted reminded me of the person who used to post after leaving the ground.
Pretty much every game without it fail.
Was it Sussexstokie?
Whatever happened to him/her?
Used to enjoy reading their thoughts straight after the game.

Used to enjoy reading their thoughts straight after the game. He’s a social media dissenter it seems. I really wanted to turn the page, reset and look forward with a bit of optimism. But, good Lord, that was utterly abject. One team looked like they were coached and had a plan - and one didn't. Just problems all over the pitch. The regulars around where I sit were going mental for the first time since the end of Hughes' tenure for 20 minutes after they took the lead. Some very unlikely characters were totally losing their shit - just snapped Indeed. Owners so out of touch with the massively reducing fan base who are prepared to watch the same car crash over and over Totally bizarre behaviour by people who claim they care

As for Brighton fans, they have been long suffering. According to their suffering, the away end at Hereford holds 20,000, the same 20,000 went to Gillingham regularly, all sat in the Open Golf stands at the Withdean and they were all at the Sex Pistols first gig😁. Premier League complacency is now kicking in for many, but if ever there is a stark contrast between a club well led and our own, it is Brighton.

Re: Brighton fans, when I moved to Brighton in 2004 for Uni everyone, and I mean everyone! supported Arsenal down there. These new Brighton fans materialised when Prescott gave the AMEX the nod. You couldn't move on Saturdays for arsenal shirts. Think I went to the Withdean more than most of the new Brighton fans did to be fair!

In fairness when we were in the Premier League the best part about it was seeing all the kids in the area walking around with Stoke kits on instead of the Man Utd/Liverpool kits of the 90’s/early 00’s……..

Sounds a pretty much carbon copy of my experience in Portsmouth when they had their time in the Prem, I knew how empty their ground had been before, I'd lived there for nearly 20 years by then and been loads of times, then suddenly everyone was a lifelong fan

If say, Bristol Rovers got in the Prem, I'm sure their gates would increase dramatically with lots more shirt sales. Are we saying if you don't go to every game you are not a fan, or if you don't go for so long you can't be considered a proper fan when you do go back? Can't really be too hard on people who are more motivated to pay to see Stoke v Arsenal, rather than Stoke v Rotherham.

Same as Swansea. 87-91 when at Uni there I was often in sub 2500 crowds, stood on the North Bank. I reckon I did 10 Swans games a season and around 20 Stoke games back then. But no matter how small the crowd or the away following, there was mither every single game. Unless Cardiff were in town, as they completely swamped the place.

But as an exiled supporter of a team that's doing pretty crap, living somewhere where the local club has received a big cash injection thus turning them into something that, at the time you can only dream of your own club turning into, then going into work and local pubs with the usual football banter that goes on can make you somewhat resentful. I knew a lot of exiled fans of other clubs in Portsmouth at the time, most if not all felt the same, I'm sure it's not unique, in fact I was actually recognising the similarities in my reply to PP.
