I'm pretty sure one manufacturer does exactly that - a universal battery for all their tools....Makita maybe? I am not 100%...

They all do that, what he’s saying is you can’t use a Makita battery on say a DeWalt or Milwaukee. Or at least I’m assuming that’s what he’s saying. Otherwise this thread is primed for the shitbin!😀

Aldi do a decent range of well priced tools for the home diy'er
they all use one battery
but yes point taken, its like how car manufacturers all use different engines, body panels and switches, its well annoying!

I think the point I’m trying to make (badly) is…
In the current climate of waste and limited resources for batteries etc surely it would make sense to enforce universal fittings for batteries in cordless tools.
I have various batteries for different males but it would make so much sense for me to have 2 batteries I could use across my tools.
If manufacturers want to make their batteries better by holding charge better or faster charging then let that be their selling point.

i bought hyundai mower, strimmer, and chainsaw - they all used 60v batteries that could be interchanged, but then hyundai changed the batteries to 40v ones which don't fit - the bastards

If the governments of the world actually gave a fuck about climate change and waste (rather than having to be seen to give a fuck) we would be living in a very different world with a hope of getting on top of it.
