Concussion is a strange one.. sometimes one only realises it has happened after a few days. I took a nasty hit on my head a couple months back and the gig I played the night after was somewhat of a blur and I found taking solos to be unusually uninspiring and yet I could play complex tunes without issue. Afterwards I still didn't realise I was concussed but when it cleared I realised it had taken about 4/5 days to reach normality again. Ty may not know for a few days where he's at.. watch this space I'd say.

Apologies if this has been covered but wtf happened? He looked to be out cold, concerned players around him waving on the medics… the first replay made my blood run cold, brought back memories of Eriksen. Stretcher hurried on.. then next thing we know he’s up on his feet screaming to be let back on the pitch 🤔 Seemed really strange, if he was knocked out don’t they do more of a check over before letting them on the field, if at all? Or did it just look a lot worse than it was My thoughts have always been, if you suffer a head injury you stay off of the pitch for at least 10 minutes whilst checks are carried out. A temporary sub could be used. Not only is it safer for the injured player, but it will make cheats think twice before feigning head injuries. Exactly how they manage it in rugby.

Thought we lost a bit of impetus and pace when he went off tbh He troubled them all night He’s our only dynamic forward. God help using that’s the case!

Not a massive rugby fan, but it makes sense.

If it wasn't concussion what was it? Probably play acting I agree. I think he was faking it and then got called out on it and didn’t want to leave the pitch cos he was actually fine.

Neil said he'd seen the footage back and it was clear Campbell wasn't unconscious so he should be fine for Saturday.

If he’s faked unconsciousness on the pitch - which I highly doubt - I’d be seriously pissed off with him. People were and are very worried about him. That said, if Neil is saying he clearly wasn’t unconscious I’d love to know the explanation for why he was lying motionless on the ground for several seconds, including while other players were frantically calling for the medics to come on.

Like it or not players are aware a head stoppage will be taken more seriously & Ty felt the impact of a strong challenge that made him hit his head. He wasn't trying to deceive his team mates, or make a mockery of the rules, he was probably just hopeful the opponent would get punished in hindsight. It happens pretty much every game these days but this one he's been unlucky and got called out for it by the medical staff sticking to the protocol. Absolutely no doubt the club will cover for him by claiming it wasn't actually concussion to avoid the 3 games out and that it was just an abundance of caution, it looks like Neil seems to have done so already in his interview. Or maybe some of us are disgustingly cynical 🤣

Let me get this straight. We’ve got fans that genuinely think this: In the heat of the moment, Ty made a split second decision not to just hold his head like all other players do when feigning a head injury, but instead to throw himself to the ground like a rag doll and lie motionless, pretending to be unconscious?
I despair.

He’s our only dynamic forward. 🤦🏻♂️ He was reasonably dynamic on the pitch last night, After his injury. Too often he is like a none paying spectator.

Concussion just isn’t treated seriously in football is it? Players generally want to carry on. Medical teams seem to pander to the players. And there’s no neutral medic to judge it. It’s not good. What is a “neutral” medic? Someone is either a professional doctor governed by all the regulations and commitments that entails or not. Hence why the doctor told AN to sub him.

Someone not affiliated to either club. He should not have got back on the pitch.

A couple years back I slipped over on some ice and hit my head, didn't lose consciousness just had a bit of a lingering headache but I was convinced I was fine. I even thought I was fine 2 days later when I couldn't remember how to make a cup of tea, and like you said it wasn't until about 5 days later that I realised anything was wrong with me at all. Someone who has had a knock on the head is not able to reliably assess whether they're fit to continue or not and taking him off was absolutely the right call, it really looked like he lost consciousness too so if he plays at the weekend that'll be very disappointing from Stoke, as they seem to be rolling out the 'he didn't lose consciousness' line already.

It didn't look like he banged his head to me. After the first reply i thought he'd broken his neck the way he landed.
