Can never get into it struggle with all the hero shooters to be able to stick to a play style/character long enough to get any good as somebody else always seem to get them before me on the loading screen. With the exception of R6 siege which I played when it first came out for a long time then stopped when it got popular again.

I think that's the problem, there's quite a big learning curve as it's not even about just learning/perfecting a character to play yourself. It's also about having a decent understanding of all the champions/heroes so you know how to play against them and counter them if need be. So it does have quite a big learning curve which takes a bit of commitment initially. The game is worth the investment though and competitve queue is 10x more fun than quick play as people take it more seriously and you get a better team composition rather than just people running about as widowmaker/hanzo trying to be a pro sniper. I took a 6 year hiatus from the game and only started playing again in December and somehow have got to Diamond in ranked now. Pick a few characters from each type attack/support/tank and it will put you in good stead if you can rotate between them depending on what the team needs.
