Happy Valley finished last night, and for me it's been one of the best TV dramas ever.
Having said that, the final episode was a bit of a let down in terms of tying up the loose ends.
I would have had Tommy set himself on fire at the start of the next episode, and then we could have seen a proper end for the other storylines - prescription drugs/gangland crime/grooming.
The aftermath of Tommy's death would have then rounded off the show.

It's been a great series, but I was a bit dissappointed with how it finished!

Never seen it, but my lad has an interview in Hebden Bridge this afternoon, sounds a right rough place

I thought the final episode was top notch with Catherine/Tommy conversation and an end to make sure it was the final one. A great/grim series with brilliant dialogue and characters. Credit to Sally Wainwright for writing a series without one word wasted.

Good ending but the whole pharmacist/teacher storyline was rushed especially as it was one of the main plotlines of series 3. Perhaps the last episode needed to be 90 minutes to do it all justice, rather than a convenient throwaway line at the end? We needed to see Faisal's life unravel.
The car scene and Tommy's fate were brutal.
Good to see Dario Gradi getting some acting work in as Neil too.
Only just realised Jake Bugg did the theme tune

As someone said earlier, so many loose ends especially Faisal the dodgy pharmacist. Overall a great series and Sarah Lancashire was brilliant 👏👍

Great series but I thought the ending of the pharmacist/teacher storyline was poor and was almost crammed in as an afterthought after the Catherine/Tommy storyline was concluded. As has been said maybe the final episode should have been 90 minutes to tie things up a little better.
Overall very good but just a bit of a disappointing end.
Three different endings were apparently filmed so it would be good to see how each actually finished.

Can't say I disagree with what's been said above. The whole pharmacist/abusive husband storyline was pointless if you're not going to end it properly and came across as just padding. A great series none the less and the final confrontation between Cath and Tommy was top notch writing and acting.

Bit late to the party here but finally just got round to completing the series. As said above, the pharmacist storyline ended up as a damp squib. It was bubbling nicely in the background as an additional storyline and it felt like they’d run out of budget to round it off properly. Just an extra 10 minutes is all that was required. That said, the final ‘confrontation’ between Tommy and Catherine was done perfectly. No knife fight or headlocks. It was a raw, emotional confrontation that was painful for both because it finally did bring closure for the both of them. Superb acting from both Norton and Lancashire. I’m not sure where you read there would be another series but that sure looks it for Catherine - she’s now retired and we know TLR’s fate. All loose ends covered off. One of the best British drama series and along with The Fall, great to see a female-driven, gritty cop drama.

Does anyone remember the name of the series Sarah Lancashire made that was set and filmed in Stoke?
It was about 12-15 years ago I think but it wasn't a dream. There were scenes in Hartshill and Shelton if memory serves, and she was reading 'The Potteries Gazette' at one point

The first thing she asked was if he needed an ambulance. For a few fleeting moments they had a rational conversation.
