Wilmot is one of the very few players worth keeping. Working his bollox off in a back 3 covering for a geriatric and a sloth. Bang on . People on here can’t read a game . Wilmot is having to cover Jagielka ( Jesus ) and Fox . Poor lad . He’s quickest we’ve got at the back and people just can’t see cuz of their agendas

‘Whipping boy’ is a strange term, every team has poor/out of form players…are we not allowed to comment ?
Wilmot has, objectively, been poor this season and made many mistakes that have contributed to goals…

Re-watching the Luton goal, Wilmot gets bullied off the ball in the DCM position by Adebayor, Ruddock runs through onto the loose ball then Sterling who was covering Wilmots position makes no effort to put in a tackle, Ruddock half hits his shot and Jagielka turns his back to the ball with Sarkic is way out of position and looks pitifully slow getting across to save the shot. Yet the goal is 100% Wilmots fault? Gouranga. I blame the keeper full stop. I'm not writing him off but when the ball moves that slowly and still goes in you've got to question the keepers positioning. Sarkic is firmly to blame, hopelessly out of position and his reactions were appalling, few more horror shows and it’s Bonham back which itself is horrendous. Wilmot was hopelessly weak as is most weeks.

Wilmot is one of the very few players worth keeping. Working his bollox off in a back 3 covering for a geriatric and a sloth. We’ve seen Wilmot as part of a consistently competent Stoke defence unlike any of our other CB’s but these idiots choose to forget that. They don’t like pro active players in the back line they’d rather have the likes of Fox who rarely does anything about anything or Jags who’s so old and has a distinguished career so I it would be too cruel or risky to criticise him. So there you go blame Wilmot, the best of our really shitty pool of CB’s.

It seems like Stoke fans always need one, I'm sure Smallbone was before Xmas but attention seems to have switched to Wilmot now. Gouranga. This ⬆️

Doing that that left the space they ran into and Jagielka covering him as he was awol. Agendas indeed.

wilmot is shit, don't let fox's poor performances go unnoticed. he fucks me off every time he gets on the field, completely useless. Fox for me was the worst player on the pitch All he did when we got the ball was lump it down the wing No idea, no thought process , just hit and hope Sunday league stuff

I would say he is not quite good enough but at least he always gives his all, and there are not many I can 100% say that about Brown is similar, probably very good league one players not sure what that says for the rest.

It’s both their fault Fox is still a footballer who should know to pick a man out with a pass and Neil is at fault for thinking it’s acceptable

If he doesn’t follow them he will be dropped etc. You play how the manager tells you to. The issue is we pump high balls to strikers that can’t win headers and put a ball down the line for a striker who should be in a care home.

I don't get why we just can't be objective and balanced and do away with this nonsense that players are beyond reproach. If I have a nightmare at work or produce a piece of work that is below standard, I and others reflect on it to understand why and then see what we can do to make sure that problem doesn't happen again. If it's the same issue, day in and out with no improvements despite intervention, then you have to ask if that person is suited to the role. I'd like to think I'm receptive to constructive criticism and expect to be called out, just as I will call out others in my work. If we go along saying nothing, everyone thinks they are doing great or their performance is sound and then you see standards slip and bigger problems. If a player does well they deserve praise, if they don't then something needs to be said to understand why. I would say that I don't have a particular problem with Wilmott, he's just one of many all infected with the malaise of the club.

He just needs a big, old skool defender alongside him. Jagielka has been ok for us given his age but in terms of style of defender is neither here nor there. In truth, both could do with the big, bulky bastard alongside them and individually and collectively we'll be a better unit.
Hopefully Tuanzebe is that man but typical Stoke style there is some catch with him, in the form of long term injury/fitness.

If he cut out the dodgy attempt to being Franz Beckenbauer he’d be half way there. Pass it simple and no longer than 10 yards.

I agree that Wilmot just needs a commanding CB in the middle to make the odd mistake that he makes less costly and glaring. The thought of Jagielka on the other side of that commanding figure has just bought a bit of sick up into the back of my mouth. Oh well I suppose it's an improvement on Fox who's whole game leaves me wanting to part company with the entire contents of my stomach. Does it really matter anyway being as given a commanding middle CB AN chose to play him RCB anyway?

He's a complete and utter joke of a player. A defender that avoids intervention at all costs and who's use of the ball is fucking abysmal not just yesterday but for 90 odd percent of his appearances in a Stoke shirt. No aspect of his game is better than Wimot's other than positional discipline and he's not meant to be playing as a traditional CB, in a 3 that role only really falls to the guy in the centre. The L/RCB's need to be more proactive, positionally mobile and contributing to the play. Wilmot is probably the best of that type of player we're likely to get and another in a similar vein would be a more than welcome addition.

He's slow not commanding in the air and susceptible to being bullied by fitter stronger younger players. He's nothing more than a comfort blanket for those who an experienced head acts as such.
