Connor Taylor update
Connor Taylor rolled his ankle last weekend.
Neil: "He's only going to be a few weeks, tops. Two to three weeks. Axel isn't going to be far away either."

Injury news
Nick Powell could return to training next week and be available for the Hull game. Sam Clucas was 'back on the grass' yesterday but his recovery will take longer. Dwight Gayle is back in training after illness.

Harry Souttar's exit
Alex Neil says the first phone call that Stoke received from Leicester was on Monday morning.

Could loans be turned into permanents?
"It's difficult," says Neil...
Stoke pursued "a few permanents" which didn't transpire. "I don't want to commit to something which is far too rich which is then a problem for two-and-a-half seasons."
"We've resolved all the FFP issues in this window."

That can't be right Taylor had a serious injury possibly out for months & Axel will be lucky to play 3 games That's what I read on this MB anyroad

You knew before the reading game he's probably telling the truth re actual phone call however it's also probable Stoke will have had other communication e.g from agents way before

Resolved FFP issues that he said only a week ago didn't exist? He likes to contradict himself in these pressers it seems. Won't sell Souttar too late. Won't pay to have loan players sat in the stand. No FFP issues.

Resolved FFP issues that he said only a week ago didn't exist? I think the tactic is to make Leicester think we are sorted FFP wise so we don't need to accept their £12million bid. Forcing them to come back with £15million on deadline day. A manager who knows how to play the game.

I didn’t realise Pearson was injured. Is he? Did Neil state that? Assumed he was fit and ready to go.

Seems neither deadline day signing will feature for a couple of weeks.
Welcome to Stoke City.

The "negotiators" on here are about as bright as Boris proved to be over Brexit..."lets put all our cards on the table and get the best deal"...wtf!

So he's opted for the limp to the end of the season and properly rebuild in the summer.
It's the correct move IMHO but it's a fair old gamble for how close to the relegation zone we are.

It’s the correct move if: a) we don’t get relegated b) we don’t mind saying to season ticket holders: “you are not important” I’d be surprised if we spend more than £3 million in the summer to be honest. The rest will need to go to being competitive in the free transfer market. We will have another start with barely any players.

I Think we'll be 1 of the biggest spenders behind the relegated prem teams this summer. We'll have most if not all of the Souttar money + an extra 12 mill minimum to play with. Unless JC keeps the taps turned off there's quite a bit of wriggle room for a promotion push. I just hope lessons have been learned and we don't go balls deep again. The way we handled relegation was a disaster but all that is finally over after this season. We've just got to hope we've enough in the tank to stay up this season.

Which bit of it is wrong? b Why b? We’ve made a decision to severely weaken the team. It looks like we’ve resigned any idea of trying to make a push for the playoffs this year. Not exactly a good message to send.

Rightly or wrongly It clearly is a ‘jam tomorrow’ type message. Muddle through this season on a wing and a prayer and then start again. The defence situation is vaguely ridiculous - short term problem - sign a player who is out for at least another month. Can’t really dress it up as any sort of smart move.
