Just stumbled across this absolute nightmare horror show from December 1988, anyone remember this match?! Aside from some abysmal defending & regular losing play in possession its worth checking out Tony Ford's red card on about the 5:15 mark! George Berry desperately pleading Ford's case but the ref had clearly, & correctly already made his mind up! Funny to think Ford later transferred to the Hawthorns the season after this incident!

Didn't Dave Bamber sign for us after watching that game? Then score on his debut as we beat Man City 3-1 after trailing to a Nigel Gleghorn opener, we scored 3 goals in about 9 minutes. Judder got a penalty,Bamber scored and I think maybe Kamara got the other. Boxing day 1988 I think.

I was there with my mates. Think I remember it being on a Sunday. A group of about 5 Baggies thought it would be a great idea to stand in the away....it really wasn't 🤣

I was there, got punched in the face as well! We actually ended up going on a half decent run afterwards including telling the Mancs to shove their 'nanas up their arse!

Didn’t it take them 20+ years to beat us again after this?

Went with my old man and we left at 4-0, and could still hear the roars for the 5th and 6th goals as we walked back to the car in the pissing down rain. Not a fun trip

Should have both been sent off. Deliberate stamp on Ford's upper arm which was dangerously close to his own face...

Man City inflatable banana's. Oh, I’m aware. Why were Mancs with bananas at a West Boilers Albion game though?

There were several big defeats that season. Apart from the day of woe at the Hawthorns, we lost 5-1 at Ipswich and 4-3 at Blackburn the following month. We didn't pick up a win until the 7th game of that season, in which there was a 4-0 loss at Plymouth and 4-0 at Leeds in November.

Have you posted this to depress us even further? Lol, apologies.. It flashed up on my youtube links after watching the significant anniversary WBA match the other day. As poor as the match was I do still like watching old footage of the period where I really started getting into the SCFC scene..

One of my personal favorite moments in sport. Seemed just so….organic?

Being on a Sunday decided to go this game last minute so sat in the paddock with Baggies fans who turned out to be full of venom for Stoke. Could not give the game away I was Stoke so I had to do some unconvincing acting and stand up to clap after each of the 6 goals. Remember it well

We were beyond dismal. All the hallmarks of a team that was to get relegated the following season.

Went to this one with my dad. Met my cousins husband first in Oldbury, big baggies fan. So we sat in the stand to the right as you look toward the away end. Unfortunately we couldn’t go at 4-0 as he still had a couple more jumping up and downs to do while me and my dad sat still like a couple of embarrassed school kids. What a shit day that was !

Ha Ha yep nothing wrong with a bit of reverse psychology is there! No matter how bad things seem now there's always someone who has witnessed a worse Stoke team play!

Both should have gone and no wonder he kicked out after being on the end of that initial tackle - just unfortunate he kicked him in the head. Was football that poor back then
