Biggest problem is the players and team aren't prepared to hold themselves to account for any of this.
Mental midgets the lot of them.

I’ve said this on other threads, and appreciate after a matchday loss there tends to be many a new thread, but feel strongly enough about it to give it a page of its own. Do we think Neil has noticed how much we lack it within the squad?
The last time we were successful we had a spine of leadership and high standards throughout the team - Begovic, Huth, Shawcross, Whelan, Walters, Crouch - that made it possible to have the non-leaders around them such as Fuller, Arnautovic, Shaqiri etc.
What have we got now? Souttar. That’s it. Maybe if Baker had a bit more around him he could become a better leader but I just don’t see it. Souttar was constantly at it vs Luton, from the pre match warm up until the final whistle, keeping players motivated. Without him the team has no bollocks, evidenced by our poor form since the above spine was broken up and our complete inability to do anything about conceding first.
This isn’t necessarily a criticism of the other players (though I expected to see more of it from Jagielka) because not everyone can be a leader. But every good team has leadership, a team is nothing without it.
I posted this a few weeks back.

Powell is the only one prepared to be brave, to take the ball in tight situations and to play positively irrespective of how anxious the crowd are.
He can’t get in this team

Team of shrinking violets. Utterly disgraceful long-term recruitment.

Been like this for years the days of Whelan winning a 70 30 ball against the odds have gone... Dickinson taking a boot in the head then having a bandage put on..on the side lines are far gone...then coming back on to head the ball clear in a melee in their own penalty area have long gone...we've lost our DNA we've lost little old stoke

Just reading those names made me feel the warmth of the past. First thing I would do is pay whatever it takes to bring Begovic in as keeper. Second thing I woukd do is bring Whelan back to the club as manager. The we desperately need 2 midfielders and a striker

Unfortunately you cannot create a leader - you are born a leader. As an example I’m disappointed in Jagielka - I know he’s not playing all the time but when he does even he doesn’t act like a leader.
We need a minimum of 2 leaders in that team - a goalkeeper or centre half and a midfield bastard
