Getting less gates than Derby and Bolton in League One is pretty poor.

Getting less gates than Derby and Bolton in League One is pretty poor. Not really mate because both clubs have 5,000 plus season tickets more than us and infact Derby have just under 22,000

Getting less gates than Derby and Bolton in League One is pretty poor. Derby have always been better supported than us being a one club city. And Bolton are on the up after years of decline and almost going out of existence at one point so their fans are surfing the crest of a wave and enjoying the positivity after years of shite. And it was a local derby against Wigan who have a similar 'us against the world' mentality after their points deduction and are getting behind their team in numbers with a seige mentality as it's looking like they're going to have a decent season despite the deduction. Pretty sure Bolton have cheap tickets too with the aim of packing out the ground. Considering we've been dreadful for around 7 years now and absolutely horrendous since relegation with the third worst home record last season, I think our crowds still holding over 20,000 on a Saturday is good going. Remember before promotion, we only got 21,000 if we were flying.

They failed to get the promotion their fans expected last year, they haven't been in the Premier for 15 seasons and have started the season with three home losses, I can't imagine Stoke having half that number in those circumstances. Considering how well Stoke had done in the previous two home matches I thought the number in the ground was disappointing yesterday but the atmosphere generated by those was electric and the best it has been since we'll before we got relegated. On a side note although being a one city team the Brian Clough Way corridor between Nottingham and Derby is relatively short and the fan base along is split between the two and obviously at the moment Forest are more attractive. Also on the SE side Burton are probably as close to Derby as Vale are to Stoke. Whatever you say about Derby you can't criticise their fans.

Derby have always had very good support but the fact that their club nearly folded(and it was very very close) has made their fans realise what they’d be missing without their club.Their gate yesterday was one of their poorest for while after their dreadful home start plus hardly any away fans either

I'd be amazed if people from Derby support Forest You are right most Derby people refuse to cross the boundary to even go shopping or for entertainment- for years our Derby supporting friends would only go out to a restaurant with us as long as it wasn't inside the Nottingham city border. A lot of the residential areas between the two are split though. I for example live in that corridor at the Nottingham end, but one of my nearby friends is a Derby fan and season ticket holder despite having no connection whatsoever to Derby and having lived in Nottingham since he got married more than 50 years ago, moving here from Norfolk.

Vale are getting what 6000/7000 home support. If they didn’t exist you could assume these great unwashed would be Stoke supporters. That would give us way over 25000 each week
The fact is the City is two small to accommodate two league clubs

That would give us way over 25000 each week The fact is the City is two small to accommodate two league clubs That's precisely it. And you have to take into account that Vale are a lower league club, so you have to take into account what their crowds would be in The Championship. They'd probably average 8 or 9,000 I reckon so add that to our crowds and that's up to around 30,000. About the same as Derby get when in The Championship. Our crowds hold up well considering the size of the city and having Vale here.

Sounds about right. Blackburn really is shocking, for such a huge club they never fill the ground.

Less than Bolton Wanderers again is really, really poor. They've never been a well supported club and they are in a league lower.
A sad indictment of modern day Stoke City.
People voting with their feet, even with a ticket offer.

Some ridiculous midweek trips on that list, surely the EFL can organise the fixtures better. Really good following from Southampton in fairness although they're clearly still at the novelty stage with the Championship. If we play them again in a couple of season it will be half that.......

Totally agree mate and was amazed how many they bought on a Tuesday night Just looking down the list at the other divisions, one of my lads best mates at school is a massive Salford fan and goes home and away. He left at lunchtime for a "dental appointment" and was one of the 56 at Sutton, brought back memories of when my dad used to pick me up at school early for a midweek away game. It was so much cheaper back then though, respect for anyone these days who follows their team up and down the country especially for some of these midweek grueller's.....

Brilliant mate and I have to say I used to do exactly the same with the eldest daughter many moons back during the mid to late nineties 😊
