I’ve learnt Neil , a staunch and loyal Stokie from Leek sadly lost his hardest battle yesterday afternoon .. RIP
Neil , I’ve known from the 80s in the Wheatsheaf and the Glebe .. and although our supporting lives chose different paths at times , Big Neil was always a thoroughly sound bloke along that path and extremely good company to be with .. a gentle giant .
RIP Neil .. no more pain

Heard this last night and very sad he was a great lad
I was thinking a few weeks back that I hadn’t seen him for a long time and now I know why
He shouted me at Derby away ( midweek ) a few years ago and that was the last chat I had with him
55 is no age
RIP Neil lad x

RIP Neil .. no more pain I cannot picture the fellow, but the name sounds very familiar, and possibly because I was at primary school in Leek. I suspect we would have been of similar vintage, and on occasion at the same away games. In any event, sad news.

Don't think I know the lad but I've always found the Leek Stokies to be sound as a pound. 55 is no age. Sincere condolences to family and close friends.
OS doffs flat cap.

Such fantastic camaraderie amongst the leek support and far too many have left us far too early , my very best away memories all started from leek what a bunch , merry monk to the sea lion for home games a wonderful ritual for those of a certain age , with others starting from there own watering hole , replaced by early Saturday van or car collections on away says Rip to another fantastically loyal in every aspect man .

Ive know Neil for what seems a lifetime, he grew up in the next street to me and we both, along with a lot of others spent an obscene amount of time and money following the Potters. RIP

I have always felt that what's missing from the "new" ground is a reconstruction, brick by brick, of the Sea Lion/Talbot/Glebe within 250 metres of the stadium. Serving drinks at 1975 prices. And openly selling alcohol to minors.

Now now no one suggested they were moral bastions but then again the same could be said of many fondly remembered, Institutions and indeed people as time and custom have evolved

He was a familiar face from the 80s and 90s travelled far and wide watching Stoke , looked a rough lad but was a genuinely nice fella and certainly one to have on your side he will be missed by many at the match .

Neil was a top lad. Yes, part of the naughty boy crew from the Glebe early 80s,but like most mellowed with age. RIP mate.

I'm a bit too old to remember Neil from my origins in Leek, but any loss of a Stokie is a sad one, more so those from my home town. We lost a cousin from Leek during lock down, Max Chadwick, also a mad keen potter

An absolute top guy, had the privilege of spending some good times with Neil at Stoke games and England cricket matches. Stoke through and through and will be sadly missed.

One of those familiar faces from years ago but I only got to know him personally from about 20 years ago, had a few beers with him home and away and he was great company with some funny stories from his window cleaning days. A proper Stokie through and through. RIP Neil, you will be missed.

Very sad news.
I use to see and speak to Neil in the Mucky Duck when I worked at the Leek Tax Office. He was big friends with a couple of my colleagues but would speak to anyone.
Unfortunately, as the office closed about 15 years ago I hadn't seen him for a long time.
He loved his football (and Stoke in particular) and he once played 5 aside with the Tax Office lads.
Big lad, big character, big heart.
RIP mate

Ironically heard this sad news via his mate in Thailand, Neil was a classic Stoke character on the terraces, it's no age to pass on. RIP big fella, condolences to his family.

RIP Stokie. Fair winds & following seas. On the subject of Leek Stokies does anyone recall the late Bondygodfatherleek and his brilliant swap-shop idea few years ago.
