Short version…..
Moved in 3 years ago Had all down stairs re plastered Over summer in the heat one wall loads of cracks (support girder in extension expanded in the heat) Filled all the cracks with some filler from my plasterer Now had 2 coats of white emulsion (watered down) Had 3 coats of colour
White lines where I filled it still show through the 5 coats of paint!!
Any ideas?

Paint often 'sinks' in filler, depending on how absorbent it is,so it may have been an idea to give just the patches of filler a couple of extra coats before painting the entire walls.
Or possibly you rolled the colour out too thinly when applying it?

Mate who's a decorator swears by Zinsser stain block (use an old brush if you go down this route cuz it knackers the brissells up apparently)

But it’s pricy, an alternative which isn’t quite as good but might do the job and probably have some lying around is a solvent based undercoat you use on woodwork

Another fine example of what can be great about our Oatie. P.S I’m sure your walls would have been fine if we were still in Europe.

I had a similar problem and used inexpensive lining paper. Then emulsion.
