In the real world we are in a relegation fight where our only decent defender is 40+ and having to play 2 games a week. If you are worried about your so-called prize players getting injured you would never play them, if they are fit they play - All fit players who were going to the world cup were up for selection for other clubs, why are Stoke different and why should we butter any player up - they are playing for the mighty potters that is a privilege. If he has requested to swan off with Aus and not make himself available then he should feck off and not bother coming back, if our owners have sanctioned that because they want to keep the snowflake happy then they should feck off with him - we need people at the club with a pair of bollox and a bit of ambition and fight - it is lacking from top to bottom I agree , we have come a long way from seeing the likes of Robert huth limping off the pitch with blood pouring out of a gash on their leg ...to tell the club doctor... don't bother with anesthetic and waiting for that to kick in ...just clean it , stitch it up and get me out onto the pitch asap , there is a game on ( true story) To players apparently fit to play 3 games in 9 games for Australia but not 2 games in 4 days for Stoke Anyway you won't change anyone's mind on here .If people say that makes sense to them, then it makes sense to them. Yes, all about opinions I suppose - I wonder what Shawcross would have done or what Pulis would have said if a fit player decided he did not fancy it. All part of the new world we live in I guess.

I notice Joe Allen hasn't been available for Swansea since mid September because of a hamstring injury but expects to play in Wales' first match?? I'm sure there are others like him and Souttar. Playing in the world cup is a dream which only comes round every four years.

Harry’s in with a reasonable shot of facing either Messi or Lewandowski next. I reckon being rested vs West Brom must be giving him sleepless nights

Maybe pay the turnstile operators a raise, or reduce the ridiculous price of a pint in the concourse ? I don’t think so somehow.

The £8.5k a day is neither here nor there, every decent performance adds a great deal more to his inevitable sale price.
