Looks like we are after him. He'd be ideal.
Very impressive for a long time, and really had a breakthrough performance in the game in Ukraine for the scots.
He's a horrible bastard as well, just what we need

Good replacement for Souttar?
No idea if he’s leaving or not but it’s going to have to be a consideration soon if we don’t go up?

He's too good for this league if we keep him beyond January we will be doing well to be fair Souttar has his head screwed on he knows playing well for us will get him to the Premier League

Hibs are the Scottish team that I follow, purely because their's was the first football shirt I ever had, nearly 67 years ago. No idea why but best guess was my old man got it cheap somewhere.A Bourne's sale maybe. The second one was an Arsenal shirt but I choose to forget that one). Anyway back to the point, Hibs are going through a really bad patch currently and without Porteous and maybe Boyle, they would be bloody awful. So,on the plus side I reckon Porteous would be a really good signing for us but on the negative side, it would really bugger up my Scottish team.

Be cheap re wages £1m? fee CB Let Flint go Yep.. hard to understand the thought process behind employing Flint as far as I'm concerned, as the comments I read on Cardiff's messageboard made it pretty clear he was dreadfully slow and had lost his edge.

If we genuinely want promotion we need him as a partner for Souttar not a replacement.
Souttar seems a well grounded lad. I can see him giving us another season if ffp allows.
Saying that if he has a stellar second half to the season we might get an offer we can't refuse.
Either way Porteous looks ideal.

Good replacement for Souttar? No idea if he’s leaving or not but it’s going to have to be a consideration soon if we don’t go up? Not really , ffp is going to change and we won’t need to sell , he’s not ready for the Prem yet so would only be another championship club be interested

He's too good for this league if we keep him beyond January we will be doing well to be fair Souttar has his head screwed on he knows playing well for us will get him to the Premier League Surely any fee we got for Souttar after twelve months out through injury would be significantly limited compared with what could be achieved in a year or so's time. Ideally l'd like to keep him long term bit certainly it'd be madness to let him go in the short term.

I agree, I like Wilmot in a 3 as a wide CB but if we want to play with a back four we need another more physical CB with decent mobility. Porteous seems to fit the bill. If we are out of the woods re ffp I don't see why we can't keep Souttar for at least one more season. If someone offers silly money or Souttar pushes for a move that could all change but for now hopefully our intention should be to keep him. If the ffp rules do change as many seem to think we will be in a much stronger position.

But, why? With Souttar coming back, we now have Wilmot and Souttar as a pairing. Jagielka can feature as an old hand, Taylor can learn (if not sent on loan) and we have Flint for cover.
How many centre backs do we want?

How many centre backs do we want? If it's on a free it would be for next season I imagine or it could be that we decide to let Jags go in Jan and spend a little to sign him early, either way Jags doest really come into it.

According to stats bomb he's moved the ball into the final third more than any other Scottish premiership player this season. That's the kind of stat that will appeal to Neil. Being a horrible bastard when he needs to be will be up there too.
