Time for a reality check In this bat shit crazy league where anything can happen and you can go from relegation to play offs in three games. We have a keeper who is young and needs taking out of the firing line We have a defence led by a 40 year old We have a midfield lack of gile and nouse We have forwards who cannot score . The side is bang average at best, I think the manager knows this and will address it eventually, patience is needed.. Can you imagine Gayle and Delap having one goal between them in November in any other championship team Wigan were shit the other night and somehow we got a win We were shit today and got what we deserved I will take avoiding relegation now

Not too sure about all this to be honest. Because we were so poor I was able to 1) Do the dishes 2) Vacuum upstairs and down 3) Sort out my washing after a long trip away 4) Reply to various emails that needed handling 5) Back-up my hard drives securely 6) Run a thorough antivirus scan of my PC, detecting some sneaky malware! Cracking afternoon all around. Other than when I looked at the screen that had the match on, then it got really, really shit. I also did the dishes in the second half. It was brilliant. I felt quite smug. Two of my worst weekend chores nailed in one go. Next week I’m going to clean the toilet in the first half and eat a salad in the second half.

Was also thinking knitting might be a shout given the cold, though with how we're playing maybe rope making would be a better fit

Spot on - you've summed up exactly how I feel about the game in general, and Stoke in particular. It's modern day football that's killing it for me, players more concerned on how they look, than the actual game... Feign injuries... Arrogance... Commentators and pundits alike literally kissing players arses... Socks pulled up over their knee caps... Virtue signalling... Nah,I'm done with all that shit now!!! I don't watch Premier League games... I don't watch motd... I don't watch champions league... I don't watch internationals... And I won't be watching the World Cup... I much prefer grass roots football, like the 1st rounds of the FA Cup, but as soon as the premier league teams join in, I'm done!!! Like I say, I'm hanging in there just about with Stoke as they're my team, and always will be, but I've totally had enough!!! Yes, I feel almost exactly the same. I have no interest whatsoever in football in general, and Stoke are really pushing my allegiance to the absolute limit, and I've been a supporter for nigh on 60 years - sad times indeed.

I am thinking of having a break from watching it on a saturday afternoon. Cant justify watching 90 minutes of complete rubbish every Saturday. Leave the house at 12 and back at 7:30. I wish it was just the 90 mins. It takes up a whole day. And quite frankly, for the past 3-5 years, it’s just been boring. I’ll always support us and go when I can. But it’s just boring. I feel the pain, living on the Isle of Wight means making the trip everyweek is out of the question for me. Plus I work every other Saturday morning. I think it's bad for me, it must be even harder for you. Likewise I will always support them, just feel the short highlights on a saturday night is a better option at the moment.

We are a terrible, terrible football team. Neil has to take some of that blame now but he has been left with a shit sandwich from incompetent owners and the previous clown in charge. Correct, but he’s fundamentally failed to improve us in any areas like confidence, attitude, fight or desire. He hasn’t improved us at all He was never going to because he isnt and wasnt suitable.

Managed to get the game today for the first time in a long time with some mates.
Quite frankly, what I hoped would set out to be a great time with them, turned into me wanting to swan dive from the top of the Tile Mountain stand at a considerable pace. What a shitshow of a depressing afternoon that was. I'm so used to disappointment with that lot that I was over the defeat about 2 minutes after the full time whistle. Minus the swan diving.
I just struggle to look forward and get motivated to load up the matchday stream, knowing the probable outcome of the performance or result. It just gets worse and worse with every passing season for the past 5 years. I'm beginning to wonder when I'll hit the point where I can't be fucked anymore and just do something else with my Saturday, rather than sitting in my chair moaning my bollocks off. May as well crack the porn on and I'll enjoy myself at least.

I used to call us lads, now blokes, with responsibilities, all early 40s who wouldn't give a thought of missing a home game ten or fifteen years ago.
Out of the 15 or so who used to go, there might be me,my lad and another brainless bastard on Tuesday following the chat we all had during a post match ale.
The only reason we have a next generation is because the current and past one is taking them, but it'll soon dwindle out, it is already.
Dread the day my lad realises I've been a right bastard giving him a season ticket for his birthday present.

We played as much of a part in our rise as we have our demise. We can't have a double standard here where we praise ourselves for the part we played during our prem days, but act like none of the shit times were going through are any of our fault. How the fuck do you come to the conclusion that our spectacular demise is in any way the fault of the supporter? Was it us who held onto a failing manager for months too long then replaced him with a Scottish no-mark to oversee our inevitable relegation? Was it us who allowed the club to drop into the Championship with no over-all plan or strategy to get back to the Premier League other than 'appoint manager du jour and spaff as much cash as we can'? Was it us who appointed a further two duff managers and gave them carte blanche to construct an unbalanced, absolute fucking car crash of a squad filled with square pegs and absolute shitters? Was it us who continue to plod along and think 'if we keep appointing dour, British managers and let them pretty much control every aspect of the footballing side of things at the club we'll eventually luck out and get back to the top flight'? Was it us who are so far behind the times in being able to run a successful football club in the modern age and who are for some reason so arrogant and/or blinkered that we refuse to implement the necessary strategy and structure in order to compete? The fans have been more than patient and quite frankly I'm amazed that their ire hasn't reached fever pitch yet. Your opinion perfectly illustrates the lack of ambition and 'I'll put up with any old shit' attitude that both Stoke fans and people from this city have in general.

Where do I say everything is great? It’s the invective and bile that spills out from so called supporters concerning the players. It’s inane and says more about ‘you’ than the blokes kicking a ball. Try and piece together an opinion that’s not full of hate.

Let’s just happy clap our way into league 1 then It's not happy clapping though, it's showing the players that we are behind them instead of pointing out every single mistake they make. Even the most positive of supporters can see we are in a rutt, but we know that booing and vitriol is detrimental and will only act as a catalyst to our downfall. It only makes you feel better and contributes absolutely nothing to the greater goal. This manager has had under half a season, without his own transfer window, he hasn't hit the ground running as we'd like (but hasn't done an awful job considering) and already the Troggs from our home fanbase are out for blood. It is absolutely pathetic. Edit: spelling

Neil is the perfect manager to keep that image going.

I used to watch local grass roots games at the normacot rec and longton park when my dog was still about. It was a reason to go for a good walk and to take in a game. Sadly he passed away and i lost that enjoyable routine and his company. I should probably go and look at foley meir who are local to me to see if my love of the game can be reignited.

We don't deserve better at all, it's a symbiotic process and were part and parcel to the negative feedback loop that we find ourselves in. We play bad, the fans boo, the pressure is higher, the players play bad ad-infinitum. We deserve each other at the moment. The sooner our fanbase realises this, the better. We are part of the problem. I’ve just realised you talk out of your arse If we get promoted, the fans should get a cash bonus, only fair if the fans are getting the blame when we lose.

Sorry but for me Relegation would just about finish me off.
Like many others I am becoming very disillusioned. Tuesday night is 50/50. The only thing that is possibly incentives me is that it’s the last home game before the World Cup break. 🙁
As for the Title thanks for nothing I agree. I feel that it has ruined my week end yet again.

Are we the only team in England that gets punished for every mistake our players make😡I’m sick to death of walking out of that ground hearing away fans celebrate as I walk past the away end,it’s becoming unbearable This is no “hard luck” excuse, but it really does that way doesn’t it? I don’t think we ever really get hammered at home, but we somehow get zero luck. Their lad in the first 10 minutes fell over and we had a 3 on 1, yet it bounced off Smallbone’s shins and through to the keeper. Before that, Baker had a shot deflected that the keeper spilt but still got there just before Powell. Compare that with the two mistakes we made and it’s no wonder we’re in a mess. Our mistakes are punished relentlessly seemingly every home game. No team is having to turn up and play especially well to win. We have played extremely well on certain occasions, like Rotherham and Swansea, yet not been able to win. It needs fixing. Not just short term but long.
