Ronnie Radford. A name from the past for those of us above a certain age.
He'll never be forgotten in certain parts of Wales. (a little in-joke from a Yeovil fan there)

An ICONIC goal that I still remember to this day.
Epitomised the magic of the FA Cup as it was then.
Sadly the competitions prestige in the earlier rounds has been cheapened in this modern day .

Hereford isn't in Wales I'm sure there was a law you could shoot, with a bow and arrow, a Welsh person if they were in the town after midnight! 😂 RIP

RIP
It's funny how life goes.
That shot hits the woodwork instead and his passing is met with 2 paragraphs on page 27 of the Hereford Gazette!

Pitch like a mudbath- check Fans hanging off the floodlight - check Euphoric fans celebrating with players - check Lower league team beats big boys - check Great days. Football still a contact sport - check. These days he would have been given at least a yellow card (or as I like to call it "booked") for the challenge on John Tudor. And the iconic goal wouldn't exist.

And the iconic goal wouldn't exist. He won the ball and it wasn't a tackle from behind. Check. Crowd held back by ropes. I recall waiting in anticipation to watch MotD that night, having seen the result earlier.

Here’s a good trivia question….who was the first player in English football to receive a red card dismissal?

Chile first country to receive one in 74, I know that.

Who made their debut in that match & went on to have years of success & a distinguished career? John Motson Yep 👏🏻👍🏻 .. John Motsons first commentary match. I only realised yesterday when they featured it as part of the Ronnie Radford article on TalkSport. Hadn't realised that Radford really didn't like the fame that came his way after the spectacular goal and occasion it created. Made him poorly apparently and he was never quite the same after that match.
