Just give your kids the change and keep the sweets. Win win. 😉 At this rate the poor kids are going to be laden down with more stuff than Sherpas on Everest .. They already carry the pyros and drinks with tops on and run on the pitch when their dads tell them .. now they’ll have to carry the groups vapes and all their shrapnel ( coins ) remembering who gave them what so when they hand it back they don’t give the pyro to the bloke with the vape ..and the vape to the pyro guy ..while ensuring the right denomination coins are given back to the coin chuckers and those who simply want it back to give the coach driver a tip Good way for the kids to make a bit of pocket money though. “What pound coin?” “Oh I chucked that at the oppo” Or “It must have dropped out of my pocket when I jumped onto the pitch” Savvy kids’ll make a fortune. Mind you the Vape/pyro mix up could be interesting. Those Vapes come keen when they catch you on the bonce. Much worse than a molten meat pie. 😉 And try sucking on a lit pyro? Mind you I wish they would.

It's a choice they won't "take it off you" you have an option to hand it over and go in or keep your change and go home. So it’s acceptable to refuse admittance to a venue because they’ve got legal tender ( which they’ll need ) in their pocket? If it was alcohol, weapons etc then yeah but cash?….fuck me mate you’ll all be accepting handing your house and car keys over because are they not similar to a coin? The fact people are just accepting of this is very sad and above anything else very very worrying It wouldn't be unlawful as it forms part of the terms and conditions of entry. You can't dictate what that person does with the item though. How are they going to hand out change in the ground?

Searching for coins isn't something that's realistic or achievable unless they implement airport style security at the turnstiles! Can you imagine everyone having to open their wallets to show stewards the contents, aswell as getting frisked. Then if metal detected everyone's belts will be activating, it's a farce that's been given publicity & if anything will worsen the situation with coin throwing issues as they've now essentially created a challenge to folk to firstly get coins in, and then to lob them! Other clubs have the fans sat above opposition sections of supporters and make it work although never totally ideal.
Sheff Utd for eg have the row of netting up to prevent such action, perhaps Sunderland should invest in doing something themselves to reduce the risk instead of blanket banning fans taking coins in with them! Afterall I can well imagine that out of 2/3000 away fans at the SOL it's ever only ever single figures from them thousands who engage in throwing projectiles to the Sunderland fans sat below! These measures are draconian and for me, unrealistic to achieve.

In a world where we have to make a choice to eat or heat cos we cant do both, what right minded person thinks its right to take our hard earned coin and give it away. Fucking ludicrous decision. If someone told me to i have to empty my pockets of my coins into a bucket, id be entering my foot up their arse. Talk about causing a riot situation.

Can't you just wang your coins at Sunderland supporters outside the ground?
Or is that too simple a solution?

Slight digression here, but this coinage thing reminds me of a County Cricket match once at Taunton. At lunch there was a big queue for the Pies and Pasties vendor, and one guy got his order, but then offered a £50.00 note in payment. The girl on the till reasonably asked him: "Have you got anything smaller?" The guy rather brusquely said "No. I only carry large notes!" to which came the immediate response from the girl: "Well you won't want any change then will you! NEXT".
Amused me at the time and full marks to her.

If they just put the away fans pitch side, like I believe they are supposed to do, rather than up in the roof, then the issue would not arise.
Whatever happened to that 'rule' as I believe Newcastle still don't have away fans at pitch side either?

Whatever happened to that 'rule' as I believe Newcastle still don't have away fans at pitch side either? Exactly. Sunderland used to have away fans pitchside years ago. Think they are trying to copy Newcastle and become even more abhorrent than normal. The newcastle situation is ridiculous to be fair as there are clearly areas of the ground that away fans can be housed in the lower stands. All this logistics and safety bollocks should be looked in to.

Were the seats in the Stoke end for home supporters? I think they were but can't quite remember.

As Stoke are recognised as being a registered charity, maybe they could give their loose change to us. We could use it to help us become financially independent as a club.

Were the seats in the Stoke end for home supporters? I think they were but can't quite remember. Mostly, yes. The odd game where there was a big away following, they also got the seats, but generally they were for home fans. The away seating was wedged into the corner between Butler St and the Stoke end.
