Sadly this is inevitable, instead of paying parasites like Lineker their millions, keep stations local. Saying that their broadcasts do need to improve. Especially around sport

The cuts are very sad, but the only option would be to increase the TV licence which would be very unpopular with a lot of people. The TV Licence was introduced in 1946, when there was no other media available, and it is now not fit for purpose. I think the time has come for the BBC charter to be amended to allow commercial sponsorships for the BBC's flagship programmes like Strictly, EastEnders, Dr Who and Top Gear. That alone would bring in a fair bit of money.

The conspiracy lovers will like this one too. Taking away local news platforms as much as possible, removing the forums for topical debate . Just to be fed the company line en masse(ooh! when did THAT last happen eh?  ) Forget all of the licence payers,many whom if elderly especially enjoy listening to local radio and joining in..maybe the only people they get to speak to or find out what's going on in the community.Maybe even take comfort from listening to people on air involved with things that they can relate to. Fat cats get richer and fatter and keep their jobs whilst the ordinairy person gets something else taken away from them . Some would say another little power grab. They keep on coming don't they?!  |
