Could make Trump’s treason on January 6th look small time.

If I was a tree in the Amazon rainforest I would be extremely worried about a Bolsonaro backlash.

That's taken the wind out of Bianco's sails...there was a thread just sitting there waiting to be started... Given the ease and grace with which populists like Trump and Bolsanaro usually accept their defeats, I wonder if we can expect some kind of insurrection or even military intervention?

I'll be more surprised if there's a peaceful transition.

Liberals rejoicing on social media about Lula da Silva's victory, they love a bit of democratic socialism as long as it's a few thousand miles away.........

The destruction of the Amazon Rain Forest under Bolsanaro is something the whole world should be celebrating now that he's been defeated. Let's hope that Lula da Silva's victory puts an end to it. But I won't hold my breath. Corruption runs deep in Brazil.
OS.

But I won't hold my breath. Corruption runs deep in Brazil. OS. Deforestation decreased loads during Lula's last presidency. Dunno much about the rest of what he does, but the whole world should be grateful for that and hopeful again I reckon. Saw news that Bolsonaro's police mates were holding up traffic to block voters in a region. Lots of videos showing it but not sure how big a deal it was. Will be a while before I see my Brazilian mate again to find out.

Just saw Bolsonaro still hasn't accepted defeat or made a public fight of it, but some of his allies have congratulated Lula.
Bolsonaro might end up copying trump, using the time to purge his party of pro-democracy folk so that he can ensure power in future? Hopefully we won't see the violent attacks on democracy like we've seen from the Trumpists...

Seems he didn't concede but will cooperate with the transfer of power.
Gotta wonder if that means he got told to fuck off by the generals and other important folk? That was trump's problem, he hadn't quite got enough control of the courts and military to end US democracy in 2020.
