We’ve had a soft underbelly for a good while and Allen was part of that. Yes he was a busy bee but no steel so until we start getting a couple of hard men in that middle we will be push overs

They are individually decent players on their day but we’re not a TEAM. We have to get some physicality somehow into that team because there’s no threat whatsoever from the dreadful set plays. It’s such a fine margin in this league and set plays at least give you a chance What I don't get is the likes of Josh Laurent is a big unit yet currently looks as physically intimidating as Charles Hawtrey This against Norwich, you have to be in hard on Pukki , early doors , miles from goal. Yellow for a bad foul on Pukki on the half way line , another player 40 yards from goal on Pukki, another yellow, another Stoke player on Pukki 30 yards from goal , another yellow Batter him, do not let him run onto a loose ball and into your penalty box , because he will score or spark something and someone else will score ( Ramsey?) When we got a head of steam up ,this is exactly what Norwich did to us . Brown was taken out 35 yards from goal to stop him getting loose ( straight yellow) . Two other Stoke players ( forget who ), taken out by the Norwich midfield, to stop them getting loose , by two different Norwich players , straight yellow from the ref twice , but no Stoke player was allowed to run free . They literally had 3 different players booked in 5 mins ( maybe 10mins ?) , as we tried to turn the game. They went in there , took the Stoke player down ,ended the move , SORTED ! The Stoke midfield nothing, zilch , not even on Pukki, who as the entire league knows is the blatant danger man Ludicrous mentality, we are not talking about a kick about with your mates We deserved to lose , and will lose a lot more if we play with that attitude.

Totally agree mate. It says it all for me when Baker has been on 4 bookings since Blackburn 11 games ago

Where their momentum needs interruption we either get caught in possession or simply watch them run past us.

Where their momentum needs interruption we either get caught in possession or simply watch them run past us. Their first goal was a perfect illustration of this. Baker ( I think it was) got caught wrong side and just shrugged off in midfield. Instead of pulling him back and ‘taking one for the team’ he just let him surge deep into our half and run at the defenders and set the goal up. Weak and very unprofessional by him.

I now watch with a great deal of trepidation and almost no expectation!

Powderpuff meh team. No nastiness or aggression. No one takes a yellow for the team. No one with a will to win. Mark my words were going down.

Would like to see a Howard Kendall / Brian Talbot type signing to provide the nouse that’s so clearly lacking along with the physical deficiencies
We seem bereft of intelligence and for me The captain is the epitome of that failure to direct those around him and lead by example

A predictable pattern is developing. We huff and puff with lots of possession against packed defenses, and then fold after giving up the first goal on a mistake following a break away. We absolutely have to get the first goal. It’s game over if Wigan score first because have shown ourselves incapable of mounting a come back.

A bit like what was required of Joe Allen, firefighting all over the pitch. The unfortunate result will be that he’s labelled a 'headless chicken, just like Joe.
