I imagine Fuller's a hero for many of the older lads in the Academy, so that's got to be good.
And before anyone brings out the ex-player thing, he also went through the interview process!

Well that bodes well, probably along the lines of a grand scale of one on the interview/target list as per lots of appointments at the club.

It's not about jobs for the boys it's an initiative from the Premier league, EFL and PFA to get black, asian and people from ethnic back grounds into management for both men and women, Ric was on praise and grumble on Friday and spoke excellently about it.

I loved Ric as a player, and I’m not one who usually has favourites. As a player, awesome, but as a coach I worry. Never one for timekeeping etc. How could he be expected to bring the required level of discipline?

I know that too, and Fuller was considered the best for the job compared to the other applicants.

I genuinely think the championship is that awful that he could still do a job for us.

Ric was one of my lad's coaches yesterday morning when he played Forest U14s in the cup. Must admit, it was hugely surreal to see him being involved in the shooting drill teeing my lad and his team mates up for their shots, and fair play to him for picking Archie's head up off the floor after he missed a last minute chance to win it.

Fair few replies and not a “knows the club” in sight. This place has changed.

How can he coach his genius into others?
He did things I've never seen forwards or wingers do before him or since.
Could be a great coach for Campbell.

It’s also one thing to be good at a particular thing, it’s another to be able to teach it. I honestly don’t understand why mid-sized clubs often employ ex-players with limited to no experience in important roles.

We weren't set up for that.

Our entire set up was “Mama give Ric the ball”, if anything, he should have scored more for Stoke.

We weren't a team set up to create lots of chances. He carried much of our attacking play on his shoulders. He was ravaged by injuries pretty much everywhere between Preston and Stoke and then was past his best when he left us.

This one hundred percent. Alot of the time our hopes of creating anything and scoring were on Rics shoulders alone.

Watching a program on BT last week and Defoe is in a similar role at Spurs and they had all the team sitting in a room going through his goals with him running through his thought process even to the point how he was explaining using smaller steps to get into a better position for shot, very good watch.

I don’t see the difference in the two statements. The goal was always the same, to constantly feed one person. Despite that, he wasn’t that prolific. He was a great runner of the ball, it was his stand out talent, but he wasn’t that much more composed in front of goal than any other good Championship striker. The best out and out finisher we have had in recent years was Beattie; I wouldn’t have him back either.

The difference in the statements is that yours suggests we should have had lots of chances as the plan was to make them for Ric. That wasn't actually how it worked for the most part - the primary focus was on being organised and hard to beat and what chances we did fashion were generally thanks to some magic from Ric. It wasn't a team effort to supply him, he was tasked with creating them for himself, largely - which he did. Two strikers in Pulis' 30-year managerial career have managed 20 goals in a season, Robert Taylor and Saido Berahino (and five of his came against the mighty Gateshead). He's been a very good manager for most of that time goals have never been his focus.
