They haven't won an away game all season.
A true test to see if we've turned a corner at home.

Would be brilliant to absolutely thrash a team four or five nil. Having said that I'd take a one nil win and keep that momentum going because that's half the battle in this league. Get a decent run of wins together and you are right up there in the promotion mix.

I honestly don’t know which way this will go. There have been so many false dawns I just feel it’s safer to expect a fuck up, then it won’t hurt so much.

I remember a few years ago Rotherham hadn’t won away on a Saturday all season. There last away Saturday game was at Stoke.
You can guess the rest.

We can win this, so long as we do not totally underestimate Rotherham. For mine, Rotherham seems to like hoofing it high and long into opposition penalty boxes, and I really hope Bursik is at his best. I'd add in Harry Clarke for Smallbone,as an extra defensive midfielder, and also name Big Harry on the subs bench, just to confuse everyone.

An extra defensive midfielder (who isn't a defensive midfielder) against a team who have scored 1 goal away from home all season and bypass the midfield anyway? Surely we need players (like Smallbone) who can unlock the defence not a makeshift midfielder watching the ball sail over his head all game. If there's a case to make a change its to bring in Flint and/or Taylor to counter the aerial threat at the back.

Worst side we’ve come up against this season. They’re decent at home but away from home they are absolutely dire.
Two-goal winning margin at the bare minimum for you lot is what I reckon.

Rotherham is just the sort of fixture to bring everyone back to earth with a bump. If Neil can adapt and get a result out of this one I think we will know weve got a bloke who has got the measure of this league and all it throws at you. I agree . They're not a bad side at all . Going for a draw

He seems to have confirmed it was a back three at Preston in the Rotherham press conference. It was quite difficult to tell! www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-live-rotherham-news-7713136Alex Neil press conferenceHe's started with a monologue warning about the dangers of complacency. Stoke's fluid formationAlex Neil talks about switching to a back three at Preston after doing well with a back four against Sheffield United. It's a pretty fluid system however he starts at the moment. Will Stoke change their team due to injury or a different challenge? The short answer is yes as Alex Neil goes into a detailed tactical analysis of Rotherham compared to Preston and Sheffield United.

Back 3 against Preston?
Only saw extended highlights but it didn’t look like that.
For anyone who was there, did it look a back 3?
What do we think the changes will be? Flint for Jags?
Delap for Gayle (or Campbell if not fit).
Clucas in?

Certainly looked like a four:
Dujohn, Jags, Wilmot, Fox
Wasn't looking at the '3 or 4 at the back question' specifically though.
Maybe Dujohn was given free reign to gallop fwd. & 'out' of the four? Didn't really see that either tbh.

Both Tuesday & Saturday will be really tough matches, any supporters looking at the fixtures and seeing 2 easy home wins, and think will be in for a shock. Typical Stoke will be two defeats.

Deep down I am optimistic but I just have to keep it in my head we are not suddenly a juggernaut that is going to piss the league. Hoping for at least a 1-1 and a point though. Been while since we won 3 in a row though too. Summary, who the fuck knows but I will be watching!!

This is Rotherham, not Real Madrid. Yes give them respect, no complacency, but we have better players than them, match their effort and we have more than enough tools at our disposal.

First time in a long time, gutted to be missing the game tonight, can’t make it as I was isolating with Covid last week & haven’t seen my daughter for over a week. She’s not a fan after being put of by someone losing their rag last season against Cardiff lol (she’s only 8).
So me & the lad will watch it at home then be back Saturday. I would loved to be there in our seats tonight, but sometimes you have to prioritise family. Anyway not expecting a easy game but with the intensity we have shown recently, 3-0 win 🔴⚪️

Easy win. Or at least, it should be. Play like we did at PNE, with the confidence that performance should bring &, of course, don't get complacent - and it's ano one in the W column. In other words, a true test as to whether AN is also bringing consistency into our repertoire. As ever*, first goal wins? * Well, usually.

It was definitely a 4 😂 I'm sure we sometimes had a line of 5 when out of possession. But didn't notice it every time. Also Smallbone was often left way further up, comfortably ahead of Fosu which you'd expect with a 3. Also sensible since Smallbone's a liability in our half.
