With Saudi seemingly cosying up to Russia and Putin, I wonder how this will play out in English football with all the Saudi interest in the Prem?
USA and Saudi seem on a crash course atm, and Britain usually follow US political position.
Could get interesting?

Biden is fuming, & has been meeting with them. Meanwhile here, the consequence is the price of fuel is on the rise again.

I just wonder where are the margins for football and ethics.
any Russian affiliations have been edited out, so what's the score with their allies?

Maybe this is how they play it out…

I wasn't entirely sure if you were making a geopolitical point or as it turns out the more narrow point of football fans reaction to Saudi connected football clubs The short answer is fans of Newcastle (and to a lesser extent Sheffield United) won't give a shit and neither will their opposing fans other than an attempt to wind up opposing fans. And why should they when the Saudi's were deemed "fit and proper" to Purchase Newcastle and the UK is still sells Saudi Arabia a massive amount of Military Hardware (and is not going to stop anytime soon) Anything in the UK is For Sale if you have the money to buy it. You should also remember that Russia and the Saudi's were ostensibly on opposing size of Syrian and Yemen Wars but pragmatism takes over when MONEY and self interest is involved

Can't see US getting too anti Saudi Saudi-Iran potential conflict means US/The West will at the very least tacitly support Saudi and more likely back them to the hilt

If their team is winning trophies what football fan really cares about where the money comes from. As far as the Saudis and Russia are concerned it re-emphasises, to me at least, the importance of developing a reliance on renewables and hydrogen so that oil can be massively scaled back and those volatile countries in the middle east (and Russia) which have way too much geopolitical influence as a result of oil production can go back to being about as relevant as Bolivia currently is.
