I suppose there may be a goalie or two who are older but can’t think of any outfield players.
Him v Billy Sharp on Saturday must have had a combined age of almost 80

Evergreen. I’ve no idea why he didn’t start the season instead of that fucking long haired donkey. No coincidence we’ve looked far more assured at the back in the last two games

No coincidence we’ve looked far more assured at the back in the last two games I’d been told that he was carrying injuries. Hopefully they are all behind him. He faded last season. Can’t rely on him playing 3x over 7-9 days on a regular basis.

Dunno but a quick search on Google says a bloke called Thiago Silva is the oldest active player in the Prem, he just turned 38. There must be like a 45 year old reserve keeper somewhere lower down in the leagues you would imagine? Youngest and oldest used player in the Championship link Cameron Jerome is the 4th oldest.

Oldest centre back in championship history - www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/juengsteaelteste/wettbewerb/GB2/plus//galerie/0?saisonIdVon=1952&saisonIdBis=2022&land_id=&pos=&spielerposition_id=Only outfield players to beat him are Teddy Sheringham, Kevin Philips and Chris Powell. Could potentially overtake Philips and Powell this season. Would need to play a season and 2 months after this season to take over Sheringham who played at 42. To be overall oldest he would need to play in around December 2024. Kevin Poole currently owns that record. In terms of other divisions. Peter Clarke of Walsall in League Two is the oldest player to feature this season at 40 years and 9 months. Glenn Whelan is the oldest in league one at 38 years old, and like wise Thiago Silva in the Premier League.

Kevin Ellison was playing as a winger for Newport but was released in the summer at the age of 43.

Yesterday must be the first time in our history that a player in his forties and a teenager have scored in the same match for Stoke.
The only other player in his forties to score for us was, of course, Stan Matthews. The youngest player to score in the same game as him was Ron Andrew who was 25 at the time (Stan was 46).

I’d been idly wondering about how yesterday would fit into an age-gap between scorers record… 21 years between Jagielka and Delap

Great stat although there is something of Dads Army about it all. Corporal Jones and Private Pike scoring in the same game!

Is John Burridge still playing. I’m sure there was one season late 80s early 90s when he played against us 4 or 5 times for different clubs.
