Having a crack for the first time.
Once ready to bottle can I re-use old wine bottles that have a screw top? Or do they have to be cork style bottles?

Personally prefer shrink caps....can buy on Amazon. A heat gun or hair dryer does the trick. My home made papaya wine was the talk of many toilet bowls.

I made some batches of mead back in the day. I think only one batch was ever worth drinking. The rest could be used to clean your oven. Brewed some beer as well. I realized later it's less work to just go buy the stuff.

It's a brilliant pastime. I used to make elderberry wine many years ago. Not sure how people would go on now but I used the old copper boiler airing cupboard to ferment it. It was beautiful stuff and very powerful! An old mate called one day and we got drunk on it. When his wife drove him home he was paralytic. I ended up spewing into the fish pond and I'm amazed the fish survived. Go for it! OS.

Was good stuff. A few nips before heading out on a Saturday...the smell of spuds was strong enough without drinking it
