There are no great English/British managers around, so why not go abroad again? I’d argue Brendan Rogers would get a tune out of this generation

Missed the boat with Potter (for now), Howe's the only other decent English candidate. I'm sure the Newcastle owners will want a bigger name at some point and he'll wait for the inevitable pay off so he's a no go. Brenda will get an attacking tune out of this squad.

It comes to something when Kieran Dier is pretty much our best player.

I saw about two minutes of the match in which England looked dreadful so we watched a film instead. Have I missed something - was Toney injured? If not why wasn't he given a run out when we are struggling to score? Has a whiff of Shawcross, about it - include him in a couple of squads to satisfy fans/media because he's doing well at the moment but don't seriously consider him because he doesn't play for one of the top 6 and has no international experience.

Really awful boring tepid display last night against a team that haven't even qualified for the world Cup and had about 5 first team players out injured and Southgate says 'the performance was a step in the right direction'... Absolute lunacy if he genuinely believes that which I worry he does.
We haven't scored in open play for almost 8 hours!!! Very worrying but I'm desperately hoping they get their act together for the world Cup. Big changes needed though.

Really poor stuff. Italy bossed the midfield . Could be a very short stay in Qatar

I assumed they must have been playing as we don’t have a game, but I see from this thread they lost. Oh well, unless there is a tournament I avoid watching them as it’s dull and boring with such a negative manager and team who should focus more on football rather than politics.

It comes to something when Kieran Dier is pretty much our best player. Apologies ERIC Dier. Decent, l thought. By contrast, Flathead and the two wingbacks were woeful. Is Tomori injured or something?

Tomori has played 9 times for AC milan this season , having played 36 matches the season before He is our quickest defender and has a better knowledge of italian football than anyone else in the england squad And can't even get picked for a game against italy Having not been picked for the entire tournament in the euro's . When let's face it a quick defender with good knowledge of the italian game , would have been handy. Southgate doesn't rate him . AC Milan do (they paid £28 million for him , big money in serie A ) Someone has got this wrong , they can't both be right

Having said that, god knows what Southgate gets up to

Clough discussed that with Wales I think years ago. Maybe England too big a job but certainly the other other Home Nations etc. You could probably mage the likes of Gibraltar or Faroes from your phone or by post
