An unsurprisingly shit idea from a fat American who is new to the game and has no real interest apart from making money for himself. In no way would this benefit 'the footballing pyramid'. What’s shit about it?

What’s shit about it? What isn't shit about it? Why not mix it up too while we're at it? Have 5 men, 5 women and a disabled keeper? Add in some time outs for advertising purposes? Why not include 'guest' players from other sports?

If it's about funding the pyramid and raising money for it they'd need to generate a lot more money.
Create a limited to the top leagues interleague tournament and sell it to the highest bidder to host.
Cut out some of the pointless international friendlies to make space for it.

I like the prospect of the mental trauma a North v South game would give the average UK based Man U fan 🙂

Why have another mini tournament for the bottom 4? (isn't that the league itself?) when will the games be played? It's diluting the intensity of a system that already works and is awash with money. he's aiming for a long term goal of the american system with franchises and no promotion and relegation. It's the most popular league of the most popular sport in the world, and he thinks we need to 'learn' from US sports. IF he gets his way on this one thing so early on, it won't be long before we have ManU Vs Chelsea at the hollywood bowl. So in my opinion, he should be ignored, mocked and told to 'sit down shut up' until he has a greater understanding of the importance of football in this country.

Not training much together adds to the spectacle. The bottom 4 thing is daft (but works in the Bundesliga) but I’ve not mentioned that. Replace the Charity Shield. The all star is a good idea that would could actually help to get more young people to watch football which I believe is an issue at the moment.

No thanks, dilutes the integrity of the game. And all for some yanks vanity project. replace the charity shield? I'm not particularly fond of it, but hypothetically, say we won the FA cup, we'd be denied the chance to play in it, so this American can make more money with pointless exhibition matches? young people already watch football, they're not missing out at all. It's not as though this money making all star game is going to be free is it? ticket prices will be as high if not higher than for normal league games.

So they need something extra to make it feel special. The game does not need more money.

I wouldn’t give a shit. The charity shield is totally meaningless. More and more aren’t though and watch esports or just play games. Getting this as interactive as possible and on streaming services would open the game up to a wider audience. It’s a good idea that opens the game to a younger audience and could be interesting.

It’d be a one off game and replacing the charity shield would make sense. Internationals aren’t really all star either.

Football has too much go on these last twenty years. Just leave the game as it is.

Brilliant idea. We could do East vs West the season after. Then left footers vs right footers, brown haired players vs everyone else, a-m surnames vs n-z surnames. We could run competitions on social media to name the teams. The Eastern Rockets vs The Western Trailblazers. Perhaps get Jerry the king Lawler and JR to do the commentary.
I’m so excited.

That’s the same as the Charity Shield and this would garner much more interest and help to get a new generation into the game who at the minute prefer esports.

Agree with Bayern, don't quite get the howls of outrage about it. It might turn out to be a completely shit idea but it seems absolutely harmless. And the outrage seems to be because he’s American and people don’t like change. Not much in football needs changing but I’ve always thought the Charity Shield should be binned. Replacing it with this seems like a good suggestion. The relegation thing I don’t like but it’s not like they don’t do it on other football leagues. You finish third bottom in the Bundesliga and you play a team from Bundesliga 2 in a play off. It seems to work there. Would I want that here? Not really but it’s not a terrible idea that comes from just being a Yank.
