You get the impression that he doesnt stand for lazy bastards in the squad dont you? A lot of emphasis on "no excusses" "they have to do it consistantly" "they should be giving there all"

I think AN's big idea is that we should train harder and try harder.
I could have told him that but I'm glad to hear it.

Which begs the question, what the fuck HAS been going on in training over the last few seasons. It’s not rocket science, the fitter you are,the better you will generally play.

Also hard to see how we could get fitness up that quickly. Usually takes weeks to build up cardio levels like that. Maybe there was a mentality issue?

To be honest though that must be a great weight of his shoulders to win his first game.
Sunderland are still above us in the table on goal difference at the moment.
Yes he came for more money and we have a better squad on paper. But if we didnt get a first win it would have started to play mind games.
I dont expect us to go on a big run of wins now. But that is a monkey off his back tonight and a vital win for all of us - Remember Nathan Jones??

Loved his answer to losing Bonham before kick off. I think we've been a club that's found it too easy just to blame other stuff for far too long, probably since the good days under Hughes. We're going places under this fella, I'm absolutely certain.

The football doesn’t thankfully. BM Saw some excellent successful football under TP. Had a good feeling about AN , no nonsense, has a structure and a plan very much as Lou & TP had. Bring it on…UTP!

Why do TP or Macari get bought up so often?
The cult of manager is strange.
Hopefully Neil can implement his own plan and it will be successful and then he will either leave because of success or will fail. And we all move on.

Because they were two of the most recent managers to get us promoted I reckon. It's poor old Gudjon I feel sorry for.

At least with Macari he has made a massive impact in the area past his management and that’s absolutely sensational. He didn’t have to and I wouldn’t expect anyone from out of the area to that so bless him that he has. It’s absolutely amazing to be honest and he deserves all the recognition in the world for the work he does for this city. What a man. But I don’t get the fixation with wanting to love managers. Generally they’re fly by night sorts who come and go. Macari being the obvious exception. And this is nothing against Neil. I think he’ll do well. I wanted him. But he’s disposable. As are we….look at Sunderland.

Manager's make a massive difference, as this fella is going to prove with fitness and conditioning in five minutes flat (if nothing else), over the last fraud.

I haven’t said they don’t make a massive difference. But take Leeds fans with Bielsa. I simply don’t get it. Their love meant he was sacked 6 months too late and they were nearly relegated because of it. It just doesn’t make sense to be like that. I agree that Neil will make a huge difference but ultimately he will leave in bad terms cos he moved to bigger and better things or because of failure. That’s the managers lot. But it seems daft to me to get attached to such transient entities. And the same goes for players. Love them whilst they’re here but once they’re past it - get rid.

I think that's the 'cult' of the supporter really isn't it? A bit of a hollow experience if you don't laud players and manager's that bring you success. There are so many that don't. Without the people and faces and the memories they conjure, Stoke City is just a shell isn't it?

I think being sentimental has been very detrimental for this club this last 6/7 years. Fans and the board alike need to be more ruthless. Neil seems ruthless. I like it. I also think he’d leave us at the drop of the hat and would be hated. I like that too.
