I may be old fashioned but I do think the passing of our longest serving monarch is important to this country and alot of people in this country. There is a time when many in the country will want to show respect and partake in some form of mourning. Or show their respect as many did when our own sir Stan and Gordon passed. The passing of Diana was a horrific shock and many many were touched and saddened by this event which was quite understandable at that time in history. People are entitled to their opinion and entitled to mourn how they want but I am saddened to see some on here think a 2 minute silence is all that's needed for our Queens passing. I for one expect a time of national mourning...which may include a paid day off for some which I'm sure will be accepted by many!! And I certainly wouldn't be upset if a mid table game of champonship.football is cancelled due to this national event unfolding. Football really ISNT more important than life or death to take words from Bill shankly That's my opinion..tin hat on. Don’t put your hat on mate I totally agree some on here I find unbelievable but it’s there prerogative

I can just about put up with it. I expected as much but some serious modernisation is due very soon.
BUT how on earth can Parliament not sitting be justified in the current circumstances. They've just had 8 weeks off where they let the country collectively shit itself over energy bills rather than come back. Every other bastard will be at work.
What a crazy crazy fucking country.

Have a bit of compassion she’s been head of I’ll say my country for 70 years and you put her in the same bracket as a old woman up the road. Now I’m not massively into the royal family but I know when to show respect

What the bloody hell has that got do with anything. As the queen of your country for as long as you've been born, and all she's done for this country, just a dignified silence would probably suite you best then.

Your unreal There’s an official pinned thread to mourn the loss of the Queen which I’m more than happy to stay off out of respect. I think this should be the thread to vent our spleen about the ridiculousness of the institution and the already over the tip cliche ridden coverage, and the fact that we’ll probably have no live sport for the next 2 weeks because of it…..

What exactly is mourning? Are you expected to do nothing and stay indoors weeping ? I don't get it. Can show respect before games with a minute's silence etc but all this cancelling stuff achieves absolutely nothing

What exactly has she done for this country? Dear god. Even if you feel like that just shut up - people are entitled to be sad about the death of an old lady. You genuinely don’t have to be disrespectful, you can just say nothing.
