How many players have been linked with both us and rangers over the last few seasons? And how many have actually gone to either club?
It's the start of silly season, let's not all react too soon.

right back for Rangers is James Tavernier, who gas ridiculous stats for a RB, 31 now but he will take some shifting …. oh, and are they going to pay him more money than us? Doubt it. But of course the fabled CL football. Do they even let in two teams from Scotland? No idea would be Europa League

I might be the only one but my enthusiasm for Sterling waned as the season wore on. He's very solid defensively but I don't think he offers much going forward. My exact thoughts mate. Backed up by the stats, no goals or assists in any of his games. Solid defender but we really need full backs that can contribute in attack as well.

Bit gutting. Was pretty sure he'd have ended up here but shit happens I suppose.
So who's next on the right back hitlist then? Wonder if we'll be looking for two?
Jack Stacey (Out of contract I think) Jordan Gabriel Hoever Darnell Fisher

theathletic.com/4509422/2023/05/11/dujon-sterling-rangers-chelsea-transfer/Dujon Sterling has an agreement in principle with Rangers to leave Chelsea on a free transfer this summer. The 23-year-old joined Chelsea at under-eight level before moving through the academy ranks at Stamford Bridge. Sterling had a number of offers available but is set to opt for a move north of the border with boss Michael Beale understood to be key to the decision. His contract with the west London side expires this summer and although Chelsea had an option to extend, they didn’t take it. He will leave the club with goodwill after coming through their youth system. Rangers can offer the prospect of Champions League football next season as well as the opportunity to challenge for domestic honours against rivals Celtic. English full-back Sterling is a key part of that and is set to sign a long-term contract at Ibrox.

Bit disappointed that we won't be signing him but it is what it is.
The positive though is that we haven't chased him all summer then been left with next to no time to find a right back, we've got plenty of time left.

Well notwithstanding the short term dabble with proper football teams in the early stages of European competition, if he thinks he’s better suited to the rubbish level of Scottish football and is content with that, then maybe he’s not the mentality of player we need if we wish to get back to the Premier League.
Next.

Can't say I blame him. Chance to win something, play European football and play in front of big crowds.

Wouldn’t mind a punt on Jack Stacey or at the other end of the scale Reuell Walters @ arsenal.

I was just about to start whinging, your post actually made me feel better. It's finality. A player we should've gone 100% in on, but it's quite frankly done.

Well,at least we know where we stand. This is the guy who told us that he didn't want to discuss his contract situation until he returned from holidays at the end of the month. Obviously got what he wanted from Rangers and was keeping us in reserve. To be fair tho', he did say that Stoke knew what he was looking for. Hopefully,it gets AN moving, as I don't think he has a clue who he wants.

Always going to struggle to attract players after the season we had, inevitable after the owners and manager have just disregarded this season and talked about next year. We finished 16th and will be down the pecking Order for most players now.

I was pointing out that it's a bit of a cop-out, if you're wanting competitive football, that's a fact. I wouldn't come here either. That's the self-fulfilling prophecy we've built for ourselves, over the last 5 years. The more insignificant we've become in the Championship, the less impact we've had in the division, the harder it is to attract the players that will change that. The price you pay, for sleeping at the wheel. Would I go to Rangers over Stoke? If those were my only options, yes. Do I rate the SPL? Christ, no.

We're no longer a 'Premier League club in waiting' as new signings always used to say. The only thing left of our club that's premier league is the training ground, and we don't even own that anymore. We don't have the transfer budget, players, board-level structure, results, or even a play-off challenge. We're a bang average Championship club with rich owners who shafted themselves in the market. 10th next season is success.

The five stages of grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Congratulations - you appear to have reached depression. Most posters appear to be still at denial or anger.
