Glad he got an applause. Made a fair few appearances for the club. Booing can make you look small time. Stupid is the word I would use. Beats being a happy clapper whatever that is though

I was pleased for him he was one player who stayed and tried to help us unlike some of the other complete and utter wankers.

Just can’t see the sense in this - it’s like calling out Nick Powell because we’ve been nothing but garbage since he started drawing a wage. You really can't compare Joe Allen to Nick Powell mate. They're in a different universe quality wise. Well in my universe Joes contribution has been greater at this point.

Wanted to crawl up my own arse it was beyond embarrassing. The bloke was utter utter wank. but still miles better than any of our current centre mids excluding Baker (and I include Laurent). Joe is certainly a level up from the present incumbents, perhaps 2 levels up.

Stoke fans obsessed with money players get paid shocker. Pathetic jealousy. It’s absolutely fine when a player earns and deserves it, Allen did neither. Probably covered more miles than anyone in the time was here. How the fuck did he not earn it.

Yes but the point is we've been nothing but poor since Powell joined so you could just as easily blame him for that as people blaming Allen for our demise cos it coincided with his signing. Allen never gave anything but his best even if it didn't fit our style. Not his fault he was signed and when others downed tools he tried to fill all the gaps resulting in the headless chicken act.

Same can be said for all the others though who kept looking away on temporary loan deals. At least Joe stayed and tried and put the club first. He didn't offer himaelf the contract he had, so can't blame him for that.

I’m pointing out that he most probably did not stay out of any loyalty to help the club. OK accept that. I disagree that was why he stayed though. I do think that what you heard about him was that he felt some responsibility for our relegation and wanted to help us back to the Premier. I'm sure he could have asked for a move and we would have let him to reduce our wage bill while not wanting to push him out. For a reasonable amount I'm sure we could have sold him but successive managers wanted to keep him.

I’m glad he got polite applause. This fringe theory that JA was the catalyst for all our ills is fucking deranged. Guy played well over 200 games for the club; yes he was overpaid based on his ability but that’s not his fault. If MON ever returns I hope he gets polite applause too.

Swansea booed both Clucas ex Swansea and Flint ex Cardiff
We need a bit of nastiness about us
Would happily clap Joe Allen before or after game but during is cringeworthy
It was as if by clapping we were asking for him to go easy

Put the monkey dust away. Baker’s got more talent in his pubes than wee Joe has in his entire body. And Laurent has physicality he could only dream of and like it or not it’s a huge factor in the position they play. Both will never have the career Joe Allen has had.

Made me sick. The bloke wasn’t a hero ex player that achieved anything here. Played a lot of games (a lot of them we lost) and ran round like a headless chicken. Synonymous with the relegation and then cupped his ears at the fans who had the nerve to be unhappy about it. He can get in the bin for me. There is a difference between applauding a person and a player. I fully agree he was not a good player while here. I bitched about him constantly. But, I also know he played for a series of increasingly shit managers who were much more to blame than he was, for our downfall. Never heard a bad word about the guy and he worked his ass off. Sure hard work while being crap does not help the team but at least he cared. That's a hell of a lot more than most wasters during that spell can say. Is he deserving of a testimonial or mention as a club hero, HELL NO. But if I was there I would have applauded him too, he cared and gave his all when he played. It didn't work out for either side but I can still appreciate him.
