Never been and never plan too.
I do question with all the crime and violence linked to it whether it’s justified having it. Not for me. Looking at this I think we’ll see mass casualties in future.

If it must carry on it needs to be a ticketed event at a secure venue with every single person searched on entry. Charge £200 a ticket and put a portion of the proceeds to charity and see if these scumbags are so eager to join the “festivities”. There is no way in earth I would allow my daughter to go to the cesspit.

I was stationed at Notting Hill while in the job,it was a tricky patch at the best of times, come the carnival and what happens in public view is only a small % of the workload.

Absolutely bonkers to allow this. Just look at the vulnerability of hose police officers. Just needs some bastard with a knife and there goes another police death.

People being stabbed to death , women being touched up , violence and the streets being left looking like Beirut, the so called 'carnival' needs banning.
It's looks shit anyway.

Fascinating read. Lots of cultural aspects I knew nothing about, even having lived prolonged spells in the city. The best Record and Tape Exchange (if you know, you know) was Ladbrooke Grove. Loads of white label stuff and every muso or journo who got freebies would be offloading their swag.

Neither are great but There’s a difference between someone reacting badly to an illegal drug and someone being stabbed to death. Both are tragic but only ones murder. There’s also a difference between an event with no arrests (0 percent)and one with 209 (according to reports) over the weekend (and i’m sure there were potentially many more). Seeing that video worries the hell out of me. On another day it could have led to mass casualties due to crushing. Something needs to change re it’s organising. As I said I wouldn’t go but it’s an accident waiting to happen.

Crime ,violence, crowds and police, sounds like a football match. The festival was many years ago a great weekend.

I used to go every year over. 8 year period in my late teens early 20s. Always one of the events of the year. Amazing atmosphere. Great fun. Never saw any trouble, so it is sad to hear after that there is often some sort of problem.
My brother once dropped his wallet (maybe he had it stolen) but before he had even cancelled his cards he had a phone call that it had been handed in at a local police station and when he picked it up it had everything still in there, including £40 in cash! We couldn’t believe it.

I have actually 😁 Depends what it is I suppose mate , I'm happy to cancel pedos for example, I'm happy to cancel an event where people get killed and stabbed etc. I also believe in whats good for the goose, tit for tat. I love it when leftys get canceled, gives them a taste of their own medicine

Yep been numerous times and always had a great time, never any bother.
Felt far more worried for my safety at various times over the years going to football matches.

After all, many more have died at the hands of hooliganism, or the building of stadiums for the Qatar world cup than at Notting Hill Carnival.

Totally agree. Being charged at by police horses at home to Birmingham was much scarier than the notting hill carnival

It's looks shit anyway. 6 deaths in 25 years I love the whole I loved it and saw no bother. That means it all goes of swimmingly of course. Were 250 injured one year. Was there once, briefly and not my thing at all but neither is any festival. If people want to go , let them, don't cancel it but is the police have to feel sorry for and those who have to clear the mess up. Charge them like someone said above, agree

Same here....some good and some bad if Im fair....I found the family day on the Saturday far more enjoyable if Im honest. On another note - did you ever try the 'circle line pub crawl'...?

I heard on the radio today that female police officer was held in a head lock and sexually assaulted at the Carnival…terrible for the lady if true. It’s just a matter of time before a Police officer is killed there…it seems to attract a lot of wrong ‘uns.
