Joey Barton Clive clarke Shawcross Walters. Clive Clarke? Shawcross? Walters? On what basis, absolutely crazy suggestions, we would be down by Christmas. Love of the club. Knowledge . I think it will be joey Barton. A manager who loves stoke city is a positive characteristic. Shawcross done his coaching badges. Walters would be a no nonsense manager. 50/50 commitment is a problem in the squad.

Carrick is an interesting one especially since Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney have done pretty well. Carrick does seem to be highly rated in the "trade". I think we could do a lot worse than him. Therefore my current hope.

Who is the favourite according to Bet365? They can't offer it. Conflict of interest

If we did a poll on here, would it be worth including Wilder and Neil, or are they too unrealistic, even with Chopper suggesting they're in the mix?

Big Dunc for me,he must of learned a lot from all those top managers he’s been assistant to and his passion would definitely get our fans onside from day one

stick with me on this one, it's probably me taking 2+2 and making 2000.
The in thing throughout the EFL at the moment is taking coaches/assistants from big clubs and giving them their first chance in management.
Andy Cousins we all know is very well connected at Citeh, he's now the technical director at the club and will no doubt have a big say in the new manager.
Liam Delap has just been signed and surely Man City would not have allowed him to come here knowing that the manager may be about to face the sack. I wonder if Cousins has perhaps sounded out one of their coaches about the possibility of taking over the reins here when MON was sacked.
I've taken a look at their coaching staff and two names stand out.
Carlos Vicens - Joined Man City in 2017 from Majorcan club CD Llosetense where he was assistant manager and academy director. Initially worked with the U12s & U13s before becoming assistant and then lead with the U18s. Won FA Youth Cup & U18s Premier League in his first season in charge. Promoted to first team when Brian Kidd left in July 2021.
Enzo Maresca - Played for Juventus, Fiorentina and Sevilla, winning the Scudetto, two Uefa Cups, a European Super Cup, an Italian Super Cup, a Spanish Cup, a Spanish Super Cup and Serie B. Was assistant at Sevilla, West Ham and Ascoli before becoming U23s Head Coach at City, winning Premier League 2 in 2020/21. Returned to City to replace Juanma Lillo in summer of 2022.

Sounds like, surprise or not, it's close to being sorted from what Pete Smith is saying

Is Marcelo Bielsa still out of work?
Could Nuno Espírito Santo be an option to bring in from Saudi?

Why? Do you think this job suits a managerial green horn who’s completely unproven?

Knowing and loving the club is the number one quality we should be looking for in any replacement manager. If none of those mentioned are available we should look at appointing the old crest of arms badge as manager. That will sort everything out I'm certain.

Duncan Ferguson would be interesting, Ancelotti wanted him to join him in Madrid so if he's got the tactical brain to go with his undoubted passion it could be a hell of a mix

Bored of the same old names floating around, I'd like to go into Europe.
Pascal Gastien (Clermont)
Ivan Leko (Brugge)
Nuno Espirito Santo
Stéphane Moulin (Caen)
I wanted Christope Galtier a few years ago when he was available .. went on to win the league ahead of PSG, who subsequently hired him.

genuinely can't see who its going to be who is your guess? no long posts just put a name > ok two 1: who you want 2: who you think it will be I'd have Chris Kamara. Has played for us, and knows what makes the club tick.

Just because he used to be a good player once upon a time and is a reasonably big name doesn’t mean he will be a good manager for this football club. It’s a poisoned chalice of a job.
