None of the bookies favourites really scream out at ya, it's like picking the best from a bad bunch!!!
Why not look around the bundesliga, for a decent lesser known manager??? 🤔
Just a thought like!!!

We surely can’t expect anything different, can we? Hardly gonna say ‘yup, the interest from Stoke is real and I’m thinking about it. I’ll let y’know after the match tomorrow.’

It will probably something along the lines of ‘yes I’ve seen the connection, won’t be disrespectful to either club by engaging with rumours. Got a game to focus on this weekend and get all 3 points.’ Keep it neutral.

Track suit manager demands effort - bye bye Powell, Clucas, Fox etc - if and only if he arrives

Yeah - if he says something like that I'd take it as there's been contact and there's something to it I can't see any reason he wouldn't very forcefully say he's not interested everything being equal? Because on the surface there's absolutely no reason he'd be interesed

He wasn’t their manager then. A few weeks back? He's been there for months. He was in the Directors’ Box during the period before he went to Sunderland.

I wonder where Michael O Neill was in the betting the day after Jones was sacked. Nowhere, I seem to remember. BM Strangely enough, Mick, he was up there! Could you do the same exercise for when Rowett was sacked please? Even though Jones was appointed the next day, I'm sure he wasn't in the betting initially then just appeared at a relatively big price and then just plummeted out of nowhere?

Yeah, that's totally true. I remember when he started steaming in from absolutely nowhere and was massively odds-on within half an hour and appointed shortly after.

Alex Neil today or tomorrow If (a big if) a deal is being struck, it will be after Saturday’s game he would move clubs. That doesn’t stop him or any other manager still in work making plans now for the remainder of the transfer window at Stoke.

Like you say on the surface of it to an average bystander, you’d say it wouldn’t necessarily make sense. But if Neil looks at the two propositions on paper and thinks his better option is to work with our squad and our setup gives him the best opportunity for promotion in the next season or two, why wouldn’t he come?

You're right, and there might be personal reasons why he wants to come back to the north-west, and he may prefer to work for the Coates family than the French billionaire they've got there. But, on the surface, he has got it pretty sweet there at a big club that is on an upward trajectory with finance behind them now

One Gunnar Solskjar or Bielsa either would be great. Probs be Chris Haughton We couldn't reappoint Sparky could we. Why would Solskjar be great, he's done sod all bar his very short spell at Man U that made them foolishly think he was worth a contract.

I wonder where Michael O Neill was in the betting the day after Jones was sacked. Nowhere, I seem to remember. BM Nathan Jones wasn't even in the betting after Rowett, then his name appeared in the list at a relatively big price, we all started to look in to him on here then he plunged out of nowhere. Like I said above, our next manager isn't even on that list yet imho. I know yesterday I said I was expecting an uninspiring choice but thinking about it overnight, didn't JC want QSF before we ended up with Lambert? And Jones was a bit left field and a JC pick too wasn't he? Could make an argument that going with a manager that has gained his experience mainly in International Football is a bit left field too in MON. That to me shows he doesn't stick to the dour, safe hand on the till, knows the division types so I agree that our next manager might not be on that list. One I thought about this morning, and it's totally left field, is Xabi Alonso. I don't think he'll be considered but it kind of ties in with what you were saying the Man City connection. He played under Pep at Bayern and was in the running to become his assistant at Man City too. And he's out of a job so no compensation to pay which I imagine will be a big thumbs up for the Coates Family.

That was where the base of my theory lies, with the Cousins/City link.

Signing deals off I’d have thought. We’re signing a couple on loan later on according to Football Insider (who have been very accurate for us recently).

Did Neil manage to wangle himself a new contract at Preston after our very public pursuit and Preston threatening legal action?

Colleen and the kids have chosen to stay living in the UK and not live in the US. He has a 12 plus 12 contract with DC. With his record 12 months on his own in a foreign city doesn't seem the best way to keep his marriage together.
Surely if we wanted him we could entice him back to Alderley Edge.
