I'm afraid it's a pointless question in many ways. Whatever squad is deemed the best would be totally hamstrung by O'Neil's lack of tactical nous, game management and negative mindset.

I’d go for any 11 in gany formation as long as the managers is someone other than the idiot we have now

I’m surprised that Taylor is in most peoples preferred line up. I think he’s been all over the place. His lack of pace is particularly worrying.
If we get another centre back in I’d be tempted to send him back out on loan.

I agree, it’s pointless under this manager and before you consider which is our best 11 and formation there’s a whole load of basics that need putting in place. Hunger & desire - none existent Energy- none existent Fitness- poor Philosophy- none existent Discipline- none existent Clive Clarke said what I’ve been thinking for a long time. Everything is far too comfortable, too cosy, too easy & as he said there are absolutely no repercussions for abject failure. Sort all of the above out and then a discussion on the best 11 can begin.

Hopeless with the ball. Extremely raw.

Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic..... Oh sorry I just woke up, what the fuck happened? You actually raise a good point. It's criminal how we didn't build on that attacking trio. Instead we ended up with Ince, McClean and Vokes.

Whether we play 5-3-2, 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or 8-1-1 the real startling fact is that we don't have either a natural right back or a natural right wing back. Is this an oversight by MON? It's a bit like going to Tesco on a Friday and forgetting to buy milk. Has he just not realised that whatever system you play you need someone that resembles a right wing back/right back? Hands up, I forgot about the Arsenal youth

Best 11 or best team?
Our best 11 would include more attacking players than are usually included: I'd find it difficult to leave out any of Brown, Gayle, Delap and (when he keeps it simple and direct) Campbell. Then there's Powell to consider when fit: 532 seems insane when you look st the strengths of the players.
A keeper (Jags may be best available but may be needed elsewhere)
Wilmott Taylor Jags ( Souttar when fit) Tymon ( we are going to attack)
Baker Thompson/ Laurent/ Kilkenny ((whoever can be disciplined to fill holes)
Brown Gayle Delap Campbell . Let's get the ball forward quickly: shit or bust

I didn't know anyone had used such a system. I should have guessed it was Bielsa though. Don't see O'Neill using it anytime soon although his brain seems to have turned to mush so who knows.
