Don't think he's done a great deal wrong to be honest. As he's neither young or an academy graduate though, he's the perfect one to point fingers at. Golden boys Taylor and Bursik seem to get little criticism for their mistakes on Saturday. Not saying he's a world beater by any stretch. But imagine if he made the mistake Sparrow did for the second goal. Or made the mistake Taylor did for the first... For the budget what better alternatives were there? Bearing in mind someone has already mentioned Gary Cahill who was earning 50% more than Flint last year. So realistic examples please. Bursik I agree, always thought he’s overrated - possibly because he’s the England GK. I think we all hope to see this ‘amazing’ keeper but he’s just not that. Doesn’t command his box, shot stopping v iffy, one good trait of his is his kicking! That is massive in the modern game but you’ve got to do more. Haven’t seen people pointing fingers at Flint, I may be wrong with that though. - I just think they are expressing the fact that he’s come straight in as a starter and been v poor, examples of this are in his distribution from the back, his communication and his presence. I would of rather have kept Batth! As for Taylor - I think when Souttar is back we’ve got one hell of a partnership there for a good few years (providing they don’t get nabbed) and that’s exciting to me personally. I seen another poster criticising Flint for the first goal and missing the header when it was actually Taylor. So that's why I was highlighting it as it does feel likes he's the boo boy that people just want to attribute blame to. Agree on the Bursik comments. I don't think he's been that poor but then I'm not attending the games and just watching streams, so sometimes you get a better idea of communication and leadership from the stands. I still don't think he's the catastrophe that some are suggesting on here though. There are other members of that back line who are more accountable for the goals we're conceding than Flint. As for Taylor he's still young and learning his trade but has been a massive bright spark this season. I could see him playing in the centre of a 3 himself. Souttar and Taylor will be an amazing partnership.

His first team exposure is limited compared to Flint and even Bursik. The problem is like attackers, defences also work on confidence and once it’s lost the end result often sees a conceded goal. We need a settled defence, but I don’t think the right players are in at present.

But when I see other members blaming players like Flint for Taylors mistakes I will correct them.

When we have Flint & Clucas on the pitch, is it any wonder we are getting beat.

When we have Flint & Clucss on the pitch, is it any wonder we are getting beat. Like playing with 9 men I’m beginning to lose patience with MoN , not going Wednesday , don’t usually miss games but my usual positive thoughts and excitement for the next game is missing after Saturday. Hope we smash Boro though

Truly awful/sackable signing, just because Holden had him at Bristol City. Some are saying Holden will be our next manager, not that we are looking for one! It would be a predictable and lazy appointment. Like replacing Mills with Alan Ball RIP. That didn't end very well and neither would Holden.

When you get an ageing, ‘meat and potatoes’, journeyman you do at least expect them to meat and potatoes stuff quite well. Not with Flinty unfortunately. Just looks like more atrocious business at this admittedly early stage.

Highlight of his Stoke career for me was when he signed and we got to make the James Coburn film references
Struggling to find a positive since then

So to save him from criticism we blame his mistakes on someone else because he's got more experience so should have stopped Taylor from making the mistake. The point wasn't that Taylor made the mistake but that the current boo boy was wrongly blamed. Talk about prejudice

MON played James Chester over Collins at centre back, I think it’s safe to assume any defensive signings we make will we be largely useless.

Can we get Pulis in to do the defender recruiting. Fair to say he could pick a centre back
