i used to look forward to watching stoke or listening to the match commentary, but now i dread it,watching the same dirge, same tactics and the same excuses. his after match comments are always the same," we played well but we were unlucky","the referee didn't give us anything" etc, etc.o'neil has drained all the pleasure out of stoke's style of football.the sooner he's gone the better, but when that will be i don't know.

It’s frustrating more than anything but it’s the games like yesterday where we’re far better on paper but lose because of the way he sets us up and his tactics that frustrate me the most. I don’t mind losing to Watford or Burnley if we give it a go and they just have better players but yesterday was inexcusable. Despite the possession we barely tested there keeper from open play. We need to bring back some hope at least. He’s sucking the life out of the club and needs to go and asap so we can bring someone in who can the best out of what is a decent squad. We should be nowhere near the bottom but if he stays we will be.

I love Stoke to bits, but at present the nervousness about results and anxiety at the prospect of the match just isn't there unfortunately, maybe it will return, but as much as he's a decent man, this 3 5 2 is unacceptable.

I totally agree - he's completely drained any enthusiasm, excitement, or even basic enjoyment out of watching us play. I can't bring myself to watch or listen to him spouting the same old, dreary rubbish in his pressers and post-match interviews.
I just want him gone !

The way this club has been allowed to decline is scandalous. As Onlooker points out, the fundamental issue is the owners ( I hate saying that after the Premier league years) but the reality is they’re just too slow to react which is why we are where we are.
They’re once again being too slow. The manager needs to go. And you are right- there’s nothing exciting about watching Stoke right now.
Gayle for example. Proven goal scorer but we’re playing entirely the wrong way and don’t have the capability to provide the correct service to utilise his talents properly. The list goes on, and on and on.
In short, it’s fucking shit.

I also fell totally uninspired. Driving up from Cornwall on Wednesday for the match, but don't feel the excitement of years gone by when we used to sing - 'I'd walk a million miles for one of the goals by Haaaarry' - and we used to travel everywhere to see them play, create and score exciting goals. The guys who still travel everywhere have my utmost sympathy.

I love Stoke to bits, but at present the nervousness about results and anxiety at the prospect of the match just isn't there unfortunately, maybe it will return, but as much as he's a decent man, this 3 5 2 is unacceptable. Systems don’t bother me too much as any system can work if you play it well but your post really struck a cord with me about nervousness and anxiety. I used be a bag of nerves before a match and completely on the edge of my seat during it whether attacking or defending. Now I find my attention wandering and expectation has almost vanished. If we score it just seems to come out of the blue rather than a pattern of play. Maybe it’s just the standard Championship standard. I’m sure the tension will return if we are seriously involved at one end of the table or the other. It’s sad.

I was looking forward to watching yesterday all week.
It dawned on me as we started the second half that there was no chance in hell we would win this match, I didn’t even think we would when we equalised.
It’s downright apathy-inducing and something needs to change. I can’t believe we’ve gone in to a new season with him and it’s turning out to be exactly how we thought it might. He’s a spent force.

Is so predictable. Turgid footballs we know what we’re going to see. Law of averages will give us a few wins. But even then it’s nothing to shout about. We lose, in a typically predictable manner, and it’s a shrug of the shoulders from me and that’s it now. I expect to be served up shite. It’s just so depressingly dull.

Wouldn't be so bad if he brought in players that could actually play in the formation he so desperately wants to play, but I've never known a manager get it so wrong when bringing players in.... His success rate must be something like 5%!!!
And that's before you even get to what goes on in training, because judging by how they look on the pitch on a match day..... Very little!!!

I felt fed up at the end of last season and decided to play cricket instead, as our season was over. However, there’s no use in dreading it this early in the season. If you can’t enjoy it when there’s a bit of hope then you never will. Not suggesting we all just sit there and happily clap whatever but we’re Stoke supporters. It’s rarely been a riveting experience. I am not saying all is rosy and yes, some of what we are seeing is a continuation of last season, but It’s three games into a new season. Just try and stick with it for a bit.
