MON will know better having dealt with the loss of Allen and Campbell to long term injuries. Here’s my take on Souttar & Powell.
Souttar
I won’t be surprised if we don’t see the real HS until January/February or later. Still 8/10 weeks away with no pre-season under his belt, return to full match fitness/sharpness with the possibility of a lack of confidence and then the World Cup break to be considered.
Powell
Still 4/6 weeks away and as with HS no pre-season under his belt, his return to match fitness will be via the subs bench to gain match day minutes/sharpness I don’t think we’ll see him fully fit until mid/late October.
Being positive
No set backs to either, nor injuries to other 1st team players in the meantime and their return to full match day fitness/sharpness could be seen as having two new players coming in at important times during the season.

I don’t think either will do anything worthwhile for us until January to be honest. I think Souttar will get his preseason in the WC and Powell will get it here, while the tournament is on.

Recent history with Powell is that a major injury has a knock on effect through the season. Could just be a daft set of events last season but you do worry.
ACL's as we've seen with Campbell last season can take a while to settle down. Will it be different for a centre half with a different skillset required to play?

I think Harry Souttar will be playing a full 90 minutes around October. He will be desperate to be at full fitness for the World Cup.
Nick Powell not so sure. Feel like he's injured every other month these days. Hoping smallbone can fill the void in the meantime.

How does Harry's height affect it? Bloke's fucking massive and that must put some strain on the knee.

Harry won't be going to the World Cup unless he's been playing regularly for us, surely?

Harry won't be going to the World Cup unless he's been playing regularly for us, surely? 8 games in October would assume Aus will want him playing at least 3 full 90 minutes? or thereabouts?

Harry won't be going to the World Cup unless he's been playing regularly for us, surely? I doubt that. He loves playing for Australia and a world cup only comes every 4 years and sometimes longer for countries like Australia. Plus its not as if they have the chance to play against the big nations in the Euros or anything either. It's a huge opportunity for Harry and could also be good for the club financially if he had a good campaign too. Obviously we wouldn't want to lose him but it's too good an opportunity for him to turn down. I'm fully supportive of him going to the world cup and I think the club should be too.

Agreed providing he is fit and injury free. My worry is that both he and Australia will be desperate to play for the reasons you've quoted and any niggle or left overs from the injury might be overlooked. If this then leads to a breakdown or a further spell on the side lined who cops for that.... us. I'd want him to have a good three or four 90 minutes for us before he gets on that plane.

Who the hell really knows? Everyone seems to be just sticking their finger in the air and making illogical and irrational decisions.

Hopefully we can get Souttar back sooner rather than later. If we do he'll improve our season massively and if he can make the World Cup and do well it hopefully puts him in the shop window for a big offer. I'd absolutely love for us to keep him and build the team around him but realistically we need to be making as much money as we can on him.

The real question is, Regardless oh how long Powell takes to return, does anyone see him staying fit for any length of time? Love the guy as a player. Career is not far from done, I feel.

You can forget them two for a while fitness wise, they won't save O'Neill's arse, he will be gone!!
