A friend of mine who is a radio DJ is good pals with a guy called Bruce Jones or maybe James who was in it. Couldn't tell you who he plays or played in it. He often joins him on his radio show apparently but have never watched an entire episode of it or met him. Apparently likes a pint . Les Battersby He sat in front of us at Maine Road when we beat them in a night match. He got up to leave before the end looking thoroughly pissed off and the bloke in front of me shouted 'Les Battersby has left the building'.

I grew up watching Corrie and it always reminded me of where I lived in Shelton as a kid.

I met him recently in Manchester, he's currently filming the Full Monty series, for Disney+. All the original cast are signed up for it, only he's the only one on the show to be playing a different role.
This time he's playing the pub landlord.

Regardless I’m astonished he’s gone into the new season without signing, or even wanting to sign a new keeper. What on earth Bursik is doing for that first goal yesterday have no idea. He will continue to cost us week in and week out.

Was he ever considered for England or another country in the kingdom? Seems to be the only thing we care about these days, aside from being able to play it from the back another massive must have. Forget stopping shots or parrying opportunities you know 'goalkeeping'. As long as you 'could be good' you can be a starter for Stoke in the Championship.

The goalkeeper situation is a major concern. As are the wing backs. Recruitment is baffling.

Any young player we let go is apparently far better than what we currently have in some eyes also despite the fact they never showed that when here and go on to achieve little in the game. Coates who according to one the other day is now at Chester for a reason. As for Bursik, having a keeper on the basis he will only get better etc and players for England U21 is not a reason to be starting. Recent England U21 keepers include Chesterfield's current keeper and our reserve keeper of course.

Re, Bursik he's shown nothing to be considered even league one quality, but receives the most underserved pity I've seen in ages on here. Look at the post above. He's gash and misses direct shots at him. Most are just now coming to that realization. I'd love to have what they are on.

I think usually the same two or three sticking up for him and blaming defenders for his inability to save shots he should be dealing with.

Why did he dive spectacularly on the spot for the first when he could have stood straight and tipped it over? Any decent sized keeper would have stood tall and pushed it over.
Whilst we have him in goal, we are going absolutely nowhere other than the lower reaches of the table.
I don't care how young he is or how he needs to learn. He can get his education in the lower leagues on loan and return to us later if we believe he has genuine potential.
Same with Sparrow

A header in the centre of the goal from a set piece shouldn't beat a keeper at this level . Was more like aMexican wave than an attempt to save it. Bored of this, he's young, he'll get better stuff.

My worry with Zander Clark is that he's not exactly going to be a top championship keeper. He's had a few decent seasons at St Johnstone but there is a huge contrast in quality between the leagues.
And if we get him in he will likely want a 2 year contract with decent enough wages. Which then means more money tied into the GK budget for what may be a panic buy.
The alternative is signing a better keeper who may incur a fee or loaning one which uses up one of our match day squad loans.
And then alongside all that you've got to take Joe Bursik into account and his development and game time. Especially with no league cup now either.
So in my opinion best options is either:
- Sign Clark on modest wages. Maybe why no deal has yet been concluded. - Sell Bursik to a better club (if he's got as much potential as some say maybe someone interested) and use the fee to buy a seasoned GK. - Sign a free agent with PL experience who is slightly better than Clark and if need be loan out bursik to free up money and get him experience. All the GK are quite risqué though. Karius, Fabri and Nyland all possibilities. Foster/Westwood I think would be too old.
