H/T 1-0 England. Bright start and goal then sat off for a long period before coming back into attacking zones in the last 5 mins. Bursik little to do but claimed a couple of crosses/miss hit shots.

Was a superb England goal from Smith-Rowe Beauty, he's a tidy player and prospect. Not much else apart from the 2 hotties in the crowd though . Looks a great setting

Good England performance. Bursik play well claimed the ball well always well positioned when Czech's about the box. Beaten by a worldie late on. England 2-1.

Thought he got away with one the little he had to do but no chance for the goal I suspect you are refering to the early bit when he was closed down clearing the ball, after that he learnt and cleared long.

Bursik gets a lot of stick on here but let’s not forget he’s played over 30 games for England at various levels is since 2017. I think he has a great future …..hopefully at Stoke.

Counts for little Yep Rooney played 20 times for England before he was called up for full cap Beckham played 15 times at under under 18 & 21 Shilton played 24 times under 18 & 23 Lampard played 20 times at under 21 Sterling 30 games Kane 33 games Etc etc The endless list of players that who appeared for England at younger levels certainly did count for little

Yes but he’s shit Please take note of certain Oatcake Posters who have superior knowledge of professional football. Of course it could be MON’s fault for his apparent downward spiral at the age of 21/22

Could be significantly longer than 4 of England's most capped players spanning 30 odd years

The current squad currently have this many u21 caps (I’ll stop when I can’t be arsed to carry on)
Pickford 14 Pope 0 Ramsdale 15
Walker 7 Trippier 2 TAA 3 James 2 Stones 13 Maguire 1 Guehi 16 Coady 0 but 30+ for u16-20s Tomori 15 Justin 8
And now I can’t be arsed to carry on.
Most of them have caps at younger levels too. TAA for instance has 19 from u16-u20.
So it’s a mixed bag but out of the top half of the squad only 2 from 13 hadn’t played for the u21s and only Pope out of them never played for England u16s or above.

It seems that England under age squads seem to be a bit of a closed shop in that the players who play at the youngest levels seem to automatically progress up the teams. I remember Shawcross playing for us in the Championship and then the Premier was kept out of the u21 team by a player whose name I forget who never made it, ended up playing in Germany then the Championship. I'm not sure all u21 players are picked on current merit.

So because many of the current squad have played in the U21s , Bursik will eventually? Unless he actually learns to stop basic shots from going into the back of the net in a crap league, I bloody well hope not!

U21 representation is no guarantee of international progression.
Two thirds of all players who are capped at U21 level never make a full England appearance.
70% of U21 capped keepers fail to represent England at senior level.
Just under 60% of U21 capped keepers become Championship level regulars and only 30% become PL regulars.

Just under 60% of U21 capped keepers become Championship level regulars and only 30% become PL regulars. Does the number of caps won at U21 level affect the above? It feels that a player earning 10+ caps at that level should have a better chance of a successful career than someone winning 1 or 2 caps. (A 10+ caps player will have been around the squad for a couple of years, whereas a 1 or 2 cap player might just have been the "next cab off the rank" when the first choice players are not available, for whatever reason.) Is that something that the stats show or is there no difference?

Is that something that the stats show or is there no difference? Yes, more caps does imply a greater likelihood of going onto full honours. Of the 50 players with the least caps, (allowing for a gap for them to come out of the age range), around 15% got at least one full cap. That compares with 40% of those 50 with the most caps going onto full honours. (Still 60% didn't).
