Mbappe supposed new contract.
£1.6million per week, or around £80million a year. 250million signing on fee
Has it gone to the ridiculous now not that it wasnt already.
Hypocritical by Real Madrid to complain of course.
In my opinion beyond a joke now.

Don't know where you got that from.Sky have reported it's £100 million signing on fee.And it's £4million a month, outrageous I know but nowhere near as outrageous as what your quoting.

When you think that film stars now earn 10s of millions a film and the global appeal of football probably not in a strange way. We are the talking top of the most popular sport on earth. Football is now a bigger industry than the music and film business. Baseball salaries are crazy considering the global appeal

Worth also pointing out that PSG are losing money hand over fist despite some ‘generous’ sponsorship deals from the owners
It’s fucking immoral, top level and professional football in general has gone off the deep end
And I’m only 26 😂

Apart from the obscene amounts of money he's engineered by playing big clubs off against one another it's the arrogance from his subsequent utterings that doesn't sit well. At least Haaland kept his mouth shut.

I think we, as fans, should be doing more to protest against the silly money in football. Unfortunately though we’re mostly a fickle bunch and the sport is too global now for any movement to have a real impact.
The money in football these days is ridiculous and is it any wonder we’re in a greed crisis. We’re having this cost of living crisis drilled into us yet year on year footballer wages are rising, transfer fees increasing, agent fees increasing, the 1% multiplying their wealth.
Is one week of Mbappe really worth 80 years work of someone on minimum wage?

I agree with all that but as fans of a championship club I’d argue its not us that are driving this it’s clubs with ‘global’ fan bases (for this please read gloryhunting twats who couldn’t point to their clubs ground on a map) Although I personally long for the day that Jacob Brown is big in China

Since I started going football games people have been saying they earn too much. Maybe so, but this example and other notable ones are off the scale hatstand and immoral. And whenever I hear someone like Alan Shearer ("a man who possesses the demeanour of a retired squaddie beating someone up in a pub carpark with his shoe" © Mark Fisher (RIP)) defending these wages due to something like, I don't know, people pay to watch his skills light up their otherwise dull existences, it makes me want to cry and/or knock football on the head once and for all.

The wrongness of it is borne of the prevailing economic system. People can't justify complaining while wanting to maintain the aforementioned system. I always wondered what the stimulation of big earning players is. Is there any real difference between 120,000 grand a week and 140,000 a week. But what it is is they take umbrage if another player is getting more. They don't need more but if that one is getting it I want it too. Which is mardarsery and little more

But then I also don't want the prevailing economic system to be maintained. In fact I'd go as far as to say I understand completely those that advocate the accelerated collapse of Capitalism.

Have said it all along, footballers are the ones who get a shitty stick but other top end sports starts earn millions without the same media coverage and public outcry, f1 drivers, tennis players etc. Not saying its right but if people are willing to pay you that amount of money for your job would you turn it down?

I agree but it's not just footballers look at top music stars, F1 drivers and the Mega rich in business. Disparity between the ultra rich and the bottom earners is reaching 18th Century proportions.

What frustrates me is that at the very top end of the game no one seems the slightest bit bothered about ffp. Yet the efl rule with an iron fist.
I don’t agree with the absurd money that gets banded about but fifa and uefa let it happen.
There does however need to be a consistent approach on finance throughout the game.

It doesn’t bother me as he’s got a talent and he’s been paid handsomely for it. Surely though it will impact on the game because it’ll just hike up wages even further and at every level. In the long term it’ll lead to clubs trying to keep up with each other and by doing so they’ll be risking the clubs long term future. In relation to the crown I don’t see the relevance as that’s what it’s valued at and not what someone’s just gone and paid for it. I think it’s actually 3.6m rather than 3b too from research. Though I’m happy to be corrected.
